INTRODUCTION
I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is a leading youth focused Non-Governmental Organizations that has significantly contributed to the realization of socio-economic development and empowerment of individuals bringing about transformative change across communities in Kenya. The organization has over 14 years’ experience implementing evidence based adolescents and youth programs in over 345 institutions of learning (Primary, Secondary and Higher learning institutions) across 23 Counties in Kenya. ICL aims at contributing towards improved life opportunities of adolescent and youth aged 10-24 using a holistic transformational model. ICL employs evidence to design and run innovative and high impact interventions to improve key indicators in health, education, economic empowerment and leadership and governance with regards to children, adolescents and youth. In her programmatic work, ICL adopts an integrated programmatic approach that uses the Race4Life transformation track[1]. To ensure maximum impact, ICL utilizes a multi-sectorial approach, Quadra Helix development approach (which brings together the Government, Private sector, Academia and Civil society) to foster innovative and sustainable transformation in communities. In this model ICL envisions better health and well-being, quality education and improved livelihoods for sustainable development. In her work, ICL is guided by Vision 2030 whose objectives it seeks to cascade to counties, sub counties, wards, organized groups and households. I Choose Life – Africa is seeking to procure the services of an agency or individual to providce technical and professional support in the development of an Apprenticeship Guide for its Education Project in Turkana: Jielimishe Girls Without Dowry[2].
The purpose of the consultancy?
I Choose Life-Africa through its Project, Jielimishe Girls Without Dowry, seeks to support 140 marginalized girls develop livelihood skills. One such strategy is helping them develop these skills through apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of practitioners of a trade or profession with on-the-job training and often some accompanying study/Classroom work
The proposed consultancy will seek to:
- Help ICL develop an Apprenticeship Guide:
- Contextaulize the apprenticeship guide to operationalize beneficial engagements
- Institute Monitoring and Evaliuation in apprenticeship
Scope of work
The work will involve the following tasks:
- Assess the current apprenticeship models and structures
- Identify best practices to be adopted in development of the guide
- Design the apprenticeship Guide layout and share with ICL for Approval
- Develop the apprenticeship guide complete with M&E system integrated
- Conduct induction to the project team on opersationalization of the Guide
Deliverables:**
The consultant is expected to deliver the following results:
a) A comprehensive guide on apprenticeship that clearly stipulates among others:
· Synopsis of apprenticeship programme
· Objectives of apprenticeship Programme
· Eligibility and duration of Apprenticeship
· Selection Criteria & Selection Process for apprenticeship
· Management ands supervision of Apprentices:
· Roles and responsibilities of different players in the apprenticeship programme
b) Customized Integrated M&E for the apprenticeship programme
c) Induction of key project staff to help in operasationalization of the Guide

- Proposed methodology, activities and timetable.
