CTG recruits, deploys and manages the right people with the right skills to implement humanitarian and development projects, from cleaners to obstetricians, and mechanics to infection specialists, we’re skilled in emergency response to crises such as the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Key to successful project delivery is the ability to mobilise at speed; CTG can source and deploy anyone, anywhere, in less than 2 weeks and have done so in 48 hours on a number of occasions.

Through our efficient and agile HR, logistical and operational services, CTG saves multilateral organisations time and money. We handle all our clients’ HR related issues, so they are free to focus on their core services.

Overview of position

  • The IMC Director will be responsible the overall guidance of the IMC vehicle.
  • The incumbent is responsible & reports to the admin & finance who will assign duties as appropriate. In the absence of the officer from these divisions, the driver will directly be responsible & report to the Information Management Officer.

Role objectives

Basic function of the position:

  • The employee serves as a driver of the IMC office with responsibility for assuring fulfilment of the needs for transportation.

Major duties & responsibilities:

  • Carries out driving duties as instructed by the Supervisor.
  • No service vehicle will be driven unless authorized by the supervising personnel.
  • Unauthorized persons should never be taken into an IMC vehicle.
  • Checks weekly vehicle schedule for the office (missions, transport needs), prepares necessary plans / arrangements & reports on changes.
  • Maintains the relevant forms (vehicle logsheet & vehicle fuel forms) & to submit them to the Admin & Finance Officer at the end of each month.
  • Carries mobile phone at all times, switched on & charged.
  • Ensures that the vehicle(s) allocated are checked on a daily basis (Satarday to Thursday) concerning fuel, water, oil, other fluids, tyre pressure & any damage / repair requirements (which are to be reported to administration for action).
  • Suggests & reports on appropriate services or repairs.
  • Ensures that all equipment, accessories & in good order.
  • Ensures that allocated vehicles are kept clean & the interiors tidy.
  • The driver is responsible for all loading & unloading of goods into the vehicle & ensures their security & condition while in the vehicle.
  • Reports any accident or driving incident, even minor, to the IMC Director as quickly as possible & completes necessary reports.
  • Obeys all road traffic regulations, including the wearing of seat belts.
  • The driver must ensure that he is in possession of a driving license when on driving duties.
  • The payment of speeding, parking & other road traffic offence fines is the driver’s responsibility.
  • The driver should note that when he is personally responsible for an accident, a sanction could be imposed.
  • Assists the IMC office with clerical / administrative duties as required; however, driving duties or tasks take priority.
  • Carries out any delivery or collection duties as may be necessary (letters cheques, visas, minor procurements, etc.).
  • The driver should make sure that fulfilment of his tasks is carried out with full care preserving the confidentiality of all matters related to IMC’s operations.
  • Carries out any other duties that may reasonably or exceptionally be required to ensure the smooth operation of IMC work & optimise the functioning of the office.

Project reporting

The incumbent is responsible & reports to the admin & finance who will assign duties as appropriate. In the absence of the officer from these divisions, the driver will directly be responsible & report to the Information Management Officer.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Somali & knowledge of basic English.
