The Driver, Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State (BGRS), position is a Program Support function role within the Foundation that will be entrusted with the responsibility of supporting the program in driving services in responsive and reliable manner. The position will be based in Assosa with regular travel within the BGRS and occasional travel to Addis Ababa as required.

Purpose of the position:

• Under the day to day supervision of the Program  Manager or delegate, the Driver shall provide reliable and safe driving services with ensuring high accuracy of work.
• The Driver demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with the people of different national and cultural background.

Major duties:-

• Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by driving office’s vehicle/s for the transportation of authorized personnel, delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items when required;
• Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logbook, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
• Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, checking of tires, brakes, car washing, etc;
• Ensure availability of all required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logbook, first aid kits, and necessary tools and spare tires;
• Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents and/or security incidents;
• Ensure that all passengers in The Pharo Foundation Vehicles are authorized travellers and put on their seat belt before the vehicle start moving.
• Service as focal person for logistics activities.

Job Requirements

Education/skills and experience

• Completion of secondary education; Technical certificate in Auto mechanic.
• Valid 3rd grade driving license.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
• Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance.
• High sense of responsibility, reliability and good behaviour;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience of working in NGO is preferable.
• 1st aid certificate desired.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• Is service orientated.
• Acts in all assignments with personal energy and engagement;
• Professional fluency in Amharic, good English.
• Familiarity with duty station area.
• Willingness for extra hours’ assignment;
