Education and Curriculum Development Consultant 89 views3 applications

SIHA is developing programs to be piloted in 5 schools and their surrounding communities in Wau, South Sudan. SIHA will coordinate the development of curriculum that will be implemented in the five senior schools. The curriculum is aimed at combating violence against women and girls, but it seeks to achieve this through a holistic approach that covers a range of topics including sexual and reproductive health, gender sensitization, positive masculinity and femininity, human rights, life skills and gender-based violence. The curriculum will be introduced to classes from senior one to senior four. Each year there will be 12 sessions that will be taught and the students will be tested on the course material. The curriculum will be taught by selected teachers in the schools, with support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Gender to ensure sufficient female instructors. In addition to the classroom curriculum, manuals to assist in the activities conducted in schools clubs for male and female students will be developed, as well as general information sessions to be shared with parents through the parent-teacher groups to inform parents of the program. Finally, the personnel of schools will be given an awareness training that will present an enhanced code of conduct for the school that includes child protection and sexual harassment policies and procedures in case of incidents.
