The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises. The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.

GRC is currently seeking a Position in Monitoring/Evaluation (M&E) to support the Togolese Red Cross (TRC) M&E department.

TRC is the host national society for the GRC country office. Due to limited National Staff, TRS is in need for support in the area of M&E. This includes the support of the Head of the M&E department in setting up the M&E concepts, the analysis of on-going GRC and TRC project activities and writing reports.

Furthermore the TRC Fund Raising manager needs additional technical support to develop long term strategies to raise funds in order to become a more self-sufficient National Society.

The applicant must be an EU citizen or long-term resident in an EU member State.

Duration: 12 months (15 August, 2019- 15 August, 2020) [Starting date/ Ending date are flexible]

Location: Lomé/Togo

Responsibilities and Tasks:

· Support the TRC M&E department and develop new strategies to increase its capacities.

· Develop new fundraising strategies for TRC

· Coordinate with TRC, donors and other relevant stakeholders regarding the fundraising strategies

Required Skills:

· Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation

· Experience in Fundraising is an asset

· Excellent French speaking and writing skills

· Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environments

· Willingness to travel in remote project areas

· Excellent intercultural, social, participative and team player skills

· Ability and agreement to adhere to the Red Cross Red Crescent Fundamental Principles.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland and a three-time Nobel Prize Laureate. State parties (signatories) to the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977 (Protocol I, Protocol II) and 2005 have given the ICRC a mandate to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts. Such victims include war wounded, prisoners, refugees, civilians, and other non-combatants.

The ICRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement along with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and 190 National Societies. It is the oldest and most honoured organization within the Movement and one of the most widely recognized organizations in the world, having won three Nobel Peace Prizes in 1917, 1944, and 1963.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Since its creation in 1863, the ICRC's sole objective has been to ensure protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and strife. It does so through its direct action around the world, as well as by encouraging the development of international humanitarian law (IHL) and promoting respect for it by governments and all weapon bearers.
