Field Office Coordinator

Reports to: Area Manager
Supervision of: Field Officers and Assistants
Travel: 60%

Role and responsibilities

  • The purpose of the Field Office Coordinator is to supervise and coordinateFinance, HR and logistics functions at field office and support implementation of programme activities in the area of operations. The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities (max 10)
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan:

  • Coordinate activities at the Field Office.
  • Manage and coordinate activities HR & Admin, finance, logistics and security tasks of the field office
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, procedures and SOPs/guidelines
  • Ensure adherence to Security and Risk Management policy and procedures
  • Coordinate and assist with budgets and costs for the field office’s shared costs and support functions
  • Provide support in the training and development of staff
  • Provide support to project implementation at field office level
  • Coordinate representation meetings with the UN, partners and authorities
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Specific responsibilities

  • These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
  • Establish support functions at Field Office in line with NRC standards, including recruitment of staff.
  • Support field staff in planning and monitoring support functions and coordination of programme activities
  • Coordination of activities with other agencies and stakeholders
  • Support Area Manager with planning and budgeting for Field Office

Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Support function: HR, Finance, Logistics managers at country and area level
  • Security: Security adviser at country level
  • Programmatic operations support: CC project managers, CC Project development Managers

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Babur and Hausa (verbal)
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Windows and Office applications)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with north-east Nigeria and culture
  • Knowledge of the local language (Hausa and Babur is an added advantage)
  • Experience with start-up and new office settings

Education field:

  • Education title: Bachelors’ degree
