Reach for Change Ethiopia was registered in Ethiopia in 2015 as a Foreign Organization. Our work focuses on women’s economic empowerment, creating sustainable jobs for youths, innovation for improving education through building the capacity of local social entrepreneurs. Since 2015 we have supported the development of more than 200 social entrepreneurs and impacted the lives of over 200000 children, youth and women in Ethiopia. Position Summary

Reach for Change Ethiopia in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) launch a project entitled “Intervention to increase sustainable livelihoods in Benishangul-Gumuz during COVID-19 and beyond” this project is sub part of “Cross-border Collaboration Programme in Western Ethiopia and Eastern Sudan which is commissioned by the BMZ and co-financed by the EU. The primary objective of the Project is to improve the livelihoods of the local population of Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State in terms of economic development. With two core specific objectives ; to provide practical and market-relevant entrepreneurship training for TVET and university students and graduates in BGR, and To develop the entrepreneurial skills of women-led saving groups members to enable them to launch small  businesses.

The Field Project Coordinator under the supervision of the Startup Program Manager will be responsible for providing management and technical assistance in day to day implementation of Intervention to increase sustainable livelihoods in Benishangul-Gumuz during COVID-19 and beyond the project.

The coordinator is expected to carry out routine activity planning and implementation of field level activities; coordinate and monitor/supervise timely implementation of project activities. He/She will be responsible for organizing and facilitating training, coaching sessions, call to actions, conducting regular site visits, and providing technical assistance including coaching to TVET students and Women self-help group members entrepreneurs. Moreover, he/she will actively contribute to documentation and reporting of program achievements and knowledge sharing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Assist Startup program manager  and the program team in organizing program activities, including; rapid assessments; organize training and coaching sessions; provide support for external  local training consultants and coaches;  scheduling program meetings with partners etc.
  • Contribute to the design and preparation of training materials; ensure collection of documentation and information (report, attendance list, photo, material, etc.)
  • Help run competitions among trained TVET students to find high-potential youth entrepreneurs,
  • Help identify and evaluate high potential youth and women entrepreneurs actively involving in the delivery of a strong entrepreneurship  boot camp, innovation lab and business readiness  program, ensuring all participants have the support they need
  • Travel outside of Assosa  for project activities as required; build and maintain relationships with Assosa TVET colleges, and other key stakeholders;
  • Serve as the liaison /focal person for matters requiring interaction with key stakeholders including regional, zonal and /or woreda relevant sector bureaus.
  • Lead and conduct post training follow up supervision and mentoring to trained providers to ensure skill retention; and systematically documents the mentoring support.
  • Contribute to program reports including field trip reports, weekly reports, quarterly reports and other program reports and work plan; Update indicator tracking tables periodically and keep records of verification documents
  • Take minutes of program meetings and serve as rapporteur for program team as needed;
  • Responsible for collecting baseline and routine monitoring data based on key project indicators; closely work with the M&E team in Addis for the same.
  • Play an active role in organizing donor or partner visits to project sites through involving in drafting terms of references, working with technical teams to identify sites and drafting detailed visit schedules, facilitating logistics to ensure smooth conduct of the visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Duration: definite contract (8 months with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund)

Job Requirements

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences such as economics, education, economics, business management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three  years’ experience in Entrepreneurship  or business skill development  and has  practical fieldwork and experience in NGO.
  • Ethiopian national residing in Ethiopia.

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.

  •  Ability to coordinate training.
  • Well-developed communication skills to liaise, negotiate and advocate with key stakeholders including with other community based organizations and implementing agencies
  • Good interpersonal skills to work in a multi-disciplinary team setup.
  • Excellent knowledge of the geographical context of reference;
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively with diverse people, cultures, and communities
  • Computer proficiency in MS Applications including Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint; and internet navigation.
  • Proven ability to write reports.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, organize and manage own work.
  • Good command in spoken and written English and proficiency in Amharic and relevant local language.
  • Be a team player and communicator and work under minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to travel frequently to project activity areas and woredas as per need.
