PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE:

  • The Finance Assistant will provide finance and administrative support to the IFES-Ethiopia field office.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in handling petty cash;
  • Assists in preparing monthly financial reports and staff payroll;
  • Assists in reviewing travel expense reports;
  • Assists with banking transactions;
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets;
  • Assists in the preparation of Field Office Wire Transfer Requests to be submitted to IFES HQ;
  • Handles photocopying and scanning of field expense reports and other reports;
  • Assist in arranging travel logistics for international staff, national staff and participants in events;
  • Assists in practical arrangements for event coordination;
  • Assists in keeping records/storage of all office supplies;
  • Provides administrative and secretarial support services for the office;
  • Assist in maintenance of the office facility including obtaining quotations for required services and arranging for repairs;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • The ability to remain organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to complete tasks with supervision;
  • Excellent communication skills in order to be able to work with IFES program and administrative staff to identify and resolve issues;
  • Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment;
  • Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management/Accounting or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated financial management and accounting skills;
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and being able to meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Accounting Software, specifically QuickBooks is an added advantage;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Proficiency in Amharic and English is required.

TRAVEL:  Travel may be required.
