PSI seeks a Finance Assistant to join our team for the USAID-funded Countywide Sanitation Activity. The project aims to achieve universal coverage of basic sanitation in five counties of Liberia. This ambitious project seeks equally ambitious staff who bring creativity, energy, and an entrepreneurial spirit to their work. The Finance Assistant will be responsible in offering support in payroll management, managing of records, and ensuring that they are easily retrievable and offering timely support in preparation of finance reports.

Your contributions

  • Payroll/Payroll Liabilities: Prepare monthly payroll for staff at PSI Liberia. Effect any month-to-month changes in the payroll software.
  • Quickbooks Data Entry: Items receipt data entry into the accounting software (QuickBooks). Scan, attach/upload relevant support.
  • Bill Reviews: Ensure telephone bills are authorized after personal calls are declared. Escalate any questionable bill charges/calls.
  • Banking: Receipt of funds received from staff and/or vendors. Ensure proper and timely banking.
  • Filing: Carry out and safely/neatly archive physical vouchers/transactional records / documents in chronology and clear labeling for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Reporting: Preparation of Deposit vouchers for review and approval process. Support in the preparation of various Finance reports as required.
  • Activity Orders / Invoicing: Timely billing of refundable items and reconciliation of such accounts.
  • Audit Support: Support during internal and external audits.
  • Fixed Assets: Fixed assets register maintenance in liaison with Asset Custodian. In liaison with the Asset Custodian, carry out physical asset counts and maintain reconciliation reports. Ensure all are insured.
  • Petty Cash Counts: Carry out and document monthly counts and quarterly spot count.
  • Accounts Receivable Maintenance: Responsible for monthly advance account statements i.e. Reconcile, Update, and follow-up for settlement.
  • Ensure the overall protection, safety, and security of records;
  • Conduct records appraisal after every major audit to identify records to be moved to the warehouse for archiving;
  • Ensure Tax return payment submissions are taken for acknowledgement at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) promptly;
  • Scan documents and do electronic filing to various requestors;
  • Provide sample documents to Auditors during audit exercises;

What are we looking for?

  • CPA. Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
  • At least 2 years’ experience in accounts management or entry-level for graduates
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Citizen of Liberia

HISTORY

PSI was founded in 1970 to improve reproductive health using commercial marketing strategies. For its first 15 years, PSI worked mostly in family planning (hence the name Population Services International). In 1985, it started promoting oral rehydration therapy. PSI’s first HIV prevention project — which promoted abstinence, fidelity and condoms — began in 1988. PSI added malaria and safe water to its portfolio in the 1990s and tuberculosis in 2004.

HEALTH IMPACT

PSI has an uncompromising focus on measurable health impact and measures its effect on disease and death much like a for-profit measures its profits. Just last year PSI saved the lives of 9,246 mothers, prevented 3,896,671 unintended pregnancies, stopped 234,367 new HIV infections, and avoided 379,286 deaths due to diseases like malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia that most threaten young children.
