Duty station: Goma with frequent visits to other bases

Starting date: 15/09/2025

Contract duration: 12 months

Reporting to: Head of Mission

Functional Supervisor: Regional finance coordinator

Supervision of: 3 provincial finance officers, 1 expatriate finance assistant

Type of Duty Station: Non-family duty station

General context of the project

Present in the DRC since 2010, INTERSOS RDC operates in 4 provinces (Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut Uele) in the protection sector through protection monitoring, and in the nutrition and food security sector. INTERSOS is mainly financed by the UNHCR, WFP, UNICEF, UNFPA, SV and the Humanitarian Fund for a portfolio of around 6.4 million euros.

General purpose of the position

The Financial Coordinator is responsible for the proper technical execution of all accounting and financial activities of the mission and its projects. In this context, he/she ensures the correct and efficient management of financial resources, in accordance with the Organization’s procedures.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

  • Work closely with the Head of Mission to ensure compliance with INTERSOS and donor procedures in a difficult context that requires dynamism to achieve results.
  • Responsible for country and project accounting and coordinates the administrative and financial staff of the various provincial offices.
  • Assists base administrators and project managers in preparing and monitoring economic and financial plans for projects.
  • Ensure the administration of treasury accounts, with particular emphasis on monitoring funds transferred and expenses in the field, where strict and constant control is required.
  • Ensure monthly bank and cash reconciliations.
  • In charge of ensuring the production of all financial reports in liaison with project managers.
  • Collaborates with HR to ensure that INTERSOS complies with labor, social security and tax laws.
  • Develop new projects through the production of budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Mission in monitoring the financial viability of the mission.
  • In charge of updating the budget forecasting tool.
  • Local point for project audits.
  • Ensure capacity building of finance and program team.
  • Any other task deemed necessary but not listed above.

Required profile and experience

Education

  • Advanced University degree in accounting and business management.

Professional Experience

  • At least 10 years’ professional experience as a manager in an accounting and finance function in a humanitarian context and 5 years as a country financial controller.

Professional Requirements

  • Professional experience in budget management and reporting of grants (UNHCR, UNICEF, HF, ECHO, BHA, SDC).
  • Previous work experience in complex and unstable contexts.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Good knowledge of computer tools (Excel/Word) and other software.

Languages

  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Fluency in French.

Personal Requirements

  • Ability to cope with stress.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to structure the department and build staff capacity.
