The Programme

International Media Support (IMS Productions Aps) is implementing a number of media development related activities in Somalia and is currently seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified finance officer to support our financial department.

The Role

The Finance Officer will assist in ensuring that the Nairobi office and local partners’ financial management systems follow statutory and donor financial procedures; fiduciary programme risk is minimised; and that value for money is attained as much as possible.

The Finance Officer will collaborate closely with the local and international management and staff teams, as well as relevant HQ staff. As an integral part of this effort, the Finance Officer will collaborate in building the capacity of local partner organisations.

Scope of work and main tasks

The Finance Officer’s main tasks will include:

· Responsible for archiving of bookkeeping documentation and partner contracts;

· Assist in the compliance of contracts and control of supporting documentation;

· Assist the Finance Team with bookkeeping and internal control of IMS Grants;

· Contribute to the preparation for annual grant and institutional audits;

· Backup for other finance staff during absences etc.;

· Assist in filling of statutory deductions i.e NSSF and NHIF;

· Documentation of office utilities payments and purchase of consumables;

· General filing, administration and logistics tasks;

· Other financial tasks as assigned by IMS finance/programme team;

· Liaison with local partners and collaboration in capacity building activities;

· Travel to Somalia when required.

Qualifications & Experience

Only Candidates with the following requirements are eligible to apply

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent qualification
  2. Certified Public accountant (CPA) part 2
  3. At least three years working in a similar capacity
  4. Traceable experience working in an international and non-profit organization
  5. Somali language skills will be considered an asset
  6. Ability to work in a diverse environment
  7. Please note that applicants should be Kenyan nationals
