Hope for Children Organisation Australia Limited is looking for a passionate and motivatedperson to join it’s team as Finance Officer.

Hope for Children Australia (HFC-Aus) is an Australian NGO, working in Ethiopia on community based initiatives which focus on education, health, and livelihoods in Ethiopia. HFC-AUS runs various projects in Ethiopia.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Assists the Head of Finance and Administration in preparing monthly financial statements
• Maintains and documents financial documents that ensures proper filing
• Handles day-to-day tracking of office expenses including compiling the monthly expenditures for inclusion to the monthly journal and record/ journalize transactions accordingly;
• Post ledgers using Peach Tree accounting system and maintain quality of transactions and accounts reports,
• Assists the Head of Finance and Administration in preparing financial report to different donors and government offices based on their requirements and given format.
• Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
• Works with procurement and logistics and other administrative departments to ensure timely, accurate payment related to monthly bills, disbursement of monthly cash allowance for beneficiaries, rental charges and other ongoing costs.
• Follow up advance given to purchaser and Cashier to ensure timely settlement as per HFC-Aus financial manual.
• Maintain ledger for all staff for medical expense refund.
• Prepare monthly payroll taking into consideration of each staff status for the period.
• Prepare monthly income tax, Withholding & Pension Fund and pay to concerned government office and follow-up on rental payments and related bills of the organization on timely basis
• Prepare documents which are illegible to tax reimbursement according to the national tax law.
• Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Head of Finance and Administration and/or Country Representative of HFC-AU

Job Requirements

To fulfill this position you must demonstrate the following essential professional and personal qualifications.

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as an accountant
• Good knowledge of oral and written English (essential)
• Good understanding of the national finance policy and directives Especially IPSAS
• Computer skills, Peachtree, word processing and spreadsheet (essential)
• NGO experience is desirable/preferred
