About the role Finance Support and Service Officer

Sightsavers are looking to recruit a Finance Support and Service Officer to join their Cameroon finance team. The Finance Support and Service Officer provides finance management support for the Country Office under the leadership of their Finance and Support Service Manager.

Knowledge, skills, and experience

In collaboration with colleagues the Finance and Support Service Officer will continually ensure quality and consistency of financial management in the country office. They will support the monitoring of country resource management and identify risks or issues to the Programme Manager.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Financial management: administering petty cash; analysing invoices; processing journals, processing payments to suppliers, supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts; filing accounts; submitting monthly reports to FSSM; preparation of monthly funds for programme teams; reviewing partner financial reports; supporting all financial monitoring visits to partners.

The FSSO will ensure financial management and risk mitigation are compliant with local regulations and adhere to the organisational Financial Framework by implementing financial controls, planning, and budgeting. The role leads support services for the country office by managing logistics of procurement supplies, managing payroll, and working with programme and finance teams to review programme/project reports, planning and analysis, auditing of funds provided and grant management reporting.

Essentials

  • The preferred candidate will hold a relevant professional accounting qualification, for example ACCA and hold a degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Proven work experience of programme finance within an INGO
  • Proven experience working with Government organisations
  • Strong project financial management, budget, and data analysis
  • Excellent written and spoken communication
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ongoing right to work in Cameroon
  • Strong English, written and spoken

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within international development with an international NGO is desirable
