Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager based in Yaoundé, Cameroon with fluency in English and French to work with OKI and partners to deliver a project promoting open and inclusive governance through access and utilization of fiscal data in Cameroon, specifically focusing on the mining and forestry sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the project on time, within budget and within scope.

The role will be varied in scope and will include:

  • Working with local partners to assemble local budget data and managing the team assembled to process, publish and analyse this data;
  • Coordination of user research and facilitating user engagement workshops.
  • Supporting and coordinate a wide group of stakeholders towards successful project delivery.
  • Gathering data and information from several sources

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Coordinate resources and third parties (communicate effectively and engagingly with a wide range of specialists, academics, funders, software developers, researchers and more, on a day to day basis).
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risks
  • Measure project performance and impact using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Successfully manage the relationship with all internal and external stakeholders and ensure they remain engaged throughout the project
  • Ensure all deliverables and success measures are met or exceeded
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Skills and experience

  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading projects with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Fluency in French and English languages
  • Able to recognise and manage project risks and dependencies and work independently to find resolutions.
  • A hands-on approach to project management with a passion for moving work forward and achieving high-quality outcomes
  • A self-starter-capable of working independently and collaboratively in a virtual and diverse environment
  • Experience with open data and/or open source software and experience of working as part of a virtual team would be an added advantage.
  • Experience of running and facilitating events is an advantage
  • Experience managing technical work is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and client-facing skills.
  • Experience coordinating in person and virtual group activities
  • PRINCE2, SCRUM or other formal project management certification is a plus but not a requirement.

Salary : Competitive. Will be dependant on previous experience.

Duration : Contract will be for one year initially, with potential for renewal.

Start date: 1st April 2019

Travel: Extensive domestic travel within Cameroon is a key part of this role and some international travel will be required.
