Position Title: Food Assistance Coordinator

Purpose of the Position:

To co-ordinate all Food Assistance Programs in World Food Program (WFP) districts and ensure compliance to Donor and World Vision requirements and guidelines

Major Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

  1. Design, plan, implement and coordinate activities related to the Program implementation and ensuring that the program goal, outcomes and outputs are achieved as per plan.
  2. Manage Program budget and ensure that districts adhere to their operational budgetary limits. This is including management of total program budget and ensuring that it is not under spent or overspent.
  3. Advise DRR & Food Assistance Manager on project issues through regular updates and participation in monthly staff reviews and planning meetings
  4. Ensure systems including Accountability Monitoring and Evaluation (A,M&E) , team feedback and project visits that engage communities regularly to get their perceptions and experience so as to assist in planning and development relevant community-oriented and sustainable programs.
  5. Manage and Coordinate all WFP Food Aid programmes that are implemented by the Organization.
  6. Co-ordinate with other Relief and Development Agencies, Local Authorities and Government stakeholder in ensuring that food security and development intervention strategies are targeted to the appropriate target population.
  7. To co-ordinate and foster relations with other World Vision Zimbabwe Programs as to ensure proper allocation and sharing of resources.
  8. To support Program Managers, and district teams in planning, implementing, monitor and evaluate approved activities as per programs design.
  9. Ensure programme compliance to Humanitarian Accountability standards.
  10. Ensure that all commodities and other materials earmarked to target populations are properly handled, stored, transported, distributed, tracked, fully accounted for and reported on according to World Vision standard procedures and Donor policy.
  11. Visit target communities on regular basis to get their perceptions and experience so as to assist in planning and development relevant community-oriented and sustainable programs.
  12. Develop proposals and concept notes for future funding with the support of Programs Team.
  13. Prepare regional budgets, expenditure analysis resources (financial and material) and staff management produce regular and timely progress reports regarding all WFP Programs
  14. Facilitate the identification designing and implementing of appropriate training needs for districts staff and local communities.
  15. Supervise use of resources allocated to the Program.
  16. Supervise all regional staff through appropriate systems and attend to their welfare issues.

Knowledge; Skills and Experience:

  1. A Social Science Degree or its equivalent
  1. Experience in program design and budgeting
  1. At least four years’ experience in Food Assistance Management. World Vision experience is an added advantage
  1. Knowledge and experience in donor engagement and managing external stakeholders relations
  1. Finds fulfilment in work through creativity, risk taking, initiative, and innovation, and encourages the same in colleagues.
  1. Ability to supervise and mentor subordinates
  1. Ability to work under minimum supervision
  1. Clean class 4 driver’s licence.
