Job Description

Processor Selection

  • Lead the process of collecting objective and verifiable information for selection of processors who will contribute to intended program impacts.
  • Lead evaluation of processors that will benefit from the program.
  • Document the processor selection process.

Processor Capacity Needs Assessment

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments of selected processors (using most efficient methodology) to identify priority intervention areas to improve knowledge and skills in food processing
  • Share and discuss the assessment with the client to verify findings, seek clarifications and ensure a common understanding of the priorities. Use appropriate interview and business advisory methodologies to dig deeper and ensure that the root problems are identified.
  • Categorization of selected processors partners into predefined segments to pair them with the appropriate level and sophistication of technical advice on food fortification

Processor Relationship Management

  • Manage the relationship with assigned clients.
  • Ensure regular communication to maintain clients’ satisfaction with program support and early identification of any problems.
  • Plan activities to ensure that the shared objectives are met within the set times and resources and that impact is maximized.

Technical Assistance

  • Develop and deliver standardized trainings and quick win solutions to less sophisticated clients with simpler technical needs on food fortification.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for implementation of technical advice, on issues identified by the project and the diagnostic process to at least 12 clients.
  • Develop project charters to solve technical challenges identified as priority by the project and through diagnostic process specifically to benefit the 12 early adopters of food fortification.
  • Source and facilitate relevant expertise from AINFP program staff

Trainings

  • Design tailored training material on food fortification processes based on findings of the diagnosis and train at least 150 factory employees on food fortification

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • In coordination with the Program Manager and other team members, develop data collection and recording tools, manage collection of processor reporting data, review data for accuracy.
  • Contribute towards explanations of results and provide input to recommendations to adapt program approach as necessary to maximize impact.
  • Provide anecdotal evidence of impact, including success stories, case studies and lessons learned.
  • Ensure activities carried out are in accordance with TechnoServe and donor requirements.

Gender Integration

  • Understand all gender integration requirements (donor as well as internal to TechnoServe).

Review gender targets and progress and make suggestions for course correction to country and program leadership, as necessary

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related area, Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in food processing, with at least 1 working in a manufacturing plant.
  • Proven track record in providing technical solutions to food processors.
  • Concrete and practical experience in food fortification
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) as well as worker safety.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good computer skills in business software (Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint).
  • Strong English skills.
