Global Assurance is part of Plan’s governance framework and has been established to provide independent, objective assurance, internal audit, and consulting services designed to add value and improve Plan’s operations.  It helps Plan accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

The role of the Global Assurance Senior, though part of Plan´s internal audit function is not your typical audit role.  As a Global Assurance Senior, you will build upon audit principles but require a combination of problem solving, process improvement, and systems thinking to reduce risk and enhance performance of the organisation.  Ideally we prefer experience or knowledge in technology, business analysis, project design and implementation, or quality and risk management.

Though audit experience is a plus, it is not the most crucial experience.  We also appreciate experience in the international development sector, and familiarity with the complexities of working in a not-for-profit industry driving complex social change where stakeholders include donors, community members, families, children, civil society, and government actors.  But if you have the core competencies and a proven track record in other industries, we welcome you to apply and join an exciting and rewarding sector.

Dimensions of the Role

Reports to Global Assurance Manager (primarily to the Regional GAM who is the line manager and to other GAMs on an assignment basis)

Post has no direct reports but manages less experienced team members and secondees on assurance assignments

Executes assurance assignments regionally and occasionally globally as per GA assurance planning, based upon key systems, processes, policies and controls

Plans and carries out assurance assignments across a large geographical area and multiple countries in diverse work environment and varying risk levels

Accountabilities

Ensures that assignments are completed on time and budget and produces reports and completed working papers in line with GA quality standards

Acts as a team member on various projects or deliverables to implement the strategy as a member of the GA Department as agreed with the GA Manager

Influences change within and across the organisation to strengthen risk management, accountability and effectiveness and support management in improving operations and provide a platform for learning across Plan

Champions select technical areas to ensure knowledge management and quality assurance are maintained across the department.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Safeguarding (SCYPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring understanding their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Plan International is an international organisation or development which works in 51 countries across Africa, the Americas, and Asia to promote the safeguarding of children.It is a nonprofit organisation and is one of the world's largest organisations based on children, it works in 58,000 communities with the help of volunteers to improve how 56 million children live. Physical Environment

Based in a Plan International country or regional office, with extensive international travel (approx. 60%) within and occasionally outside the region.  Requires occasional field visits travelling by automobile to remote rural communities, working outside in a variety of climates.
