Chemonics seeks a game development trainer for the ongoing USAID funded Tunisia Jobs, Opportunities, and Business Success Project in Tunisia. The project aims to create sustainable jobs in Tunisia by (1) providing targeted assistance to Tunisian businesses to expand their sales and/or exports enabling them to expand and hire additional workers; (2) enhance workforce development by reducing the education/training gap; (3) promote a more effective business enabling environment through policy and regulatory reforms; and, (4) communicate to Tunisians, especially youth, a sense of the importance of market-led economic growth and entrepreneurship, as well as vocational education as an apt career choice.

The game development trainer will provide direct support to a Tunisian art and technology school by developing and implementing a training to strengthen the capacity of the game developer instructors. The training will focus on areas related to game design, packaging, and publishing. This position will be based remotely. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

The game development trainer will report directly to a Tunisia JOBS Business Advisor. The assignment will be conducted remotely. The position is expected to take place between July 27, 2020 – September 11, 2020, and the anticipated amount of LOE will be up to 7 days. Final selection for this position will be based on approval from USAID.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a remote training schedule and administering the training to a group of 8-10 game development instructors
  • The training should cover the following topics: 1. Conceptualization, Prototyping, and Iteration, 2. The MDA Design Framework (a.k.a. “working backwards”), 3. Game Mechanics, 4. Communication and Collaboration Techniques, 5. Dynamics (Decision Making, Progression, and Learning), 6. Playtesting and Metrics, 7. Tuning and Balance, 8. Level Design, 9. UX/UI, 10. Project Scoping and Development Stages, 11. Engineering: Game Architecture and Game Feel, 12. Product positioning and Business model and 13. Packaging, marketing and publishing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Game Design and/or Development
  • Professional certification in game engine (Unreal engine 4 and/or Unity)
  • At least 15 years of work experience in game design and development, from indie to AAA
  • Demonstrated capability in leadership, systems/content/UX design, programming, and training specifically experience in Training of Trainers
  • Game design instructor and/or trainer for at least 5 years
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Unreal 4, Unity, game design and production, game-play programming and development, and C and C++
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in French and/or Arabic is helpful, but not required
