Gender Inclusion Specialist, Rural Agricultural Enterprises Development, Zambia**

ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking an experienced Gender Inclusion Specialist for the anticipated USAID-funded Rural Agricultural Enterprises Development Activity. The activity is anticipated to facilitate access to finance for rural Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), address financial service providers’ barriers to lending to SMEs, and address barriers that limit agricultural enterprises’ ability to seek and qualify for loans. The position will be based in Lusaka, Zambia.

Responsibilities

· Ensure that gender is mainstreamed across the program, including training materials, monitoring, operations, policies and procedures and design activities that target women and girls within the scope of the project.

· Responsible for ensuring that analytical and programmatic guidance is provided to the project team to promote an equitable impact of all investments and to ensure equitable access to finance, technical assistance, and other resources for women, youth, and vulnerable populations.

· Assist in the facilitation of gender trainings with program staff and program stakeholders;

· Assist in design and implementation of gender analyses.

· Review and provide input to project work plans, with attention to gender dimensions of technical activities and operations, and discuss gender issues and priorities with project senior management and other technical specialists.

· Liaise with technical component leaders to ensure that gender considerations are assessed and accounted for.

· Assist in the collection and analysis of sex-disaggregated data.

· Incorporate gender considerations into the Performance Monitoring Plan, with an emphasis on designing indicators that will drive high-value project activities.

· Travel to project locations to oversee technical inputs.

· Recruit and manage consultants.

· Write project reports and prepare internal documentation as required.

· Maintain active relationships with gender specialists and others in related organizations and programs in the region.

· Maintain an up-to-date and thorough understanding of gender issues related to project components.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in gender studies, international development, agricultural sciences, development economics, international affairs, or some related field, with a focus on gender.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in agricultural development.
  • Minimum five years’ experience effectively integrating gender considerations into programming that is not explicitly focused on gender.
  • Prior experience with agriculture productivity; agribusiness and market development.
  • Fluency in English is required; Fluency in Bemba, Nyanja, Tonga, or Lozi is preferred.
