The Ethiopian Veterinary Association (EVA) is a Non-Governmental, not for-profit Voluntary professional association of Veterinarians with more than 43 years of service in the Country. Since its establishment in 1976, EVA has been contributing to the emergence of efficient, effective and competitive livestock industry in Ethiopia. EVA is also member of the world veterinary association. Besides its role in protecting the rights and interests of veterinarians and upholding professional ethics and standards, EVA is dedicated to policy advocacy, the development, promotion, awareness and dissemination of knowledge and best practices in the livestock sector.
The Ethiopian Veterinary Association (EVA) is seeking to recruit competent staff to manage its professional activities. Qualified professionals who meet the specified requirements are invited to apply for the following job opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
The manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the EVA secretariat office.
She/he will have following responsibilities:
- Lead the task and responsibilities of the EVA secretariat.
- Represent EVA in its official dealings as per the directives of the executive board.
- Implement the decision of the general assembly, and the executive board and editorial board.
- Monitor EVA professional activities including financial performance.
- Submit the quarterly and yearly activity and financial reports to the executive board.
- Prepare and submit the association’s activity plan including budget to the executive board.
- Networking through and liaise with stakeholders and represent EVA in forums nationally and internationally.
- Follow up, coordinate, supervise and direct all activities of the employees of the association.
- Closely work with partner government offices, NGOs, UN agencies, the private sectors, livestock producers and their organizations to forge smooth relationship and coordination.

Job Requirements
Requirements and skills:
- She/he shall have a DVM or post graduate degree in veterinary medicine and be a member of EVA
- A minimum of 6 years professional experience of which 3 years demonstrated experience in office/project management including human resource management, budgeting, report-writing, proposal development, and monitoring and evaluation of projects.
- Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to livestock agriculture in particular animal health with an understanding of sustainable development.
- Excellent leadership skill, result oriented, problem solving attitude and with particular skills to work very closely with government offices, NGOs, development partners, the private sector, livestock producers and their organizations.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite, internet and expert ability in analysis and interpretation of results.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Specialization in veterinary medicine is of an advantage.
- Special training on office management or project management or Monitoring & Evaluation or related fields will be an asset.
