Organisational Setting and Reporting

This position is located at the Pharo Foundation’s boarding school ‘Pharo School – Homosha. Pharo School, Homosha is an innovative boarding school for female students in Grade 9 through 12.The HCSRMS is under the overall command of the Administration Head and will report directly to the Human Resources Manager.

The HCSRMS is responsibility for all  campus security and risk management functions.

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities entrusted to HCSRMS presupposes that the Security Unit will comprise of security officers (guards) to be provided by private security company.  Within delegated authority, the HCSRMS will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Organises and manages the activities and operations of the Security Unit
  • Inspects line-ups of officers/guards to ensure that they are properly attired and equipped, as well as knowledgeable of the daily security requirements.
  • Maintain a proper network with relevant security focal persons of Homosha and BGRS  who would provide period security updates to the school management.
  • Assigns officers to areas and maintains routine contact while they are on duty
  • Establish continuous feedback loop with the security company based on which work conduct are further improved and kept at the required level
  • Directly supervises the unit’s personnel.
  • Ensures that all posts are properly and effectively manned.
  • Assures the proper maintenance of all relevant equipment and records.
  • Ensure visitors are treated as per the security regulation of the campus and gate records are properly maintained.
  • Prepares and reviews incident reports of the Unit; guarantees that all incidents and complaints reported are effectively addressed.
  • Reviews all meeting and special event schedules to determine staffing requirements. Recommends inter-unit redeployments to resolve temporary personnel shortages.
  • Assumes command of emergency or heightened security situations until properly relieved.
  • Be responsible for evaluating security officers and providing feedback for improvement and commendations.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional security or military training is required. Must demonstrate a high competence in the Pharo Foundation Interview/Test. Additional studies in the field of Law, Business Administration, Social/Political Science or related field is desirable.

Work Experience

At least 10 years of experience in all areas of security operations, including in civilian police force, military police, or other relevant military operations. Experience of working in different security sectors and/or a client focused organisation is desirable.

Languages

English is the working language of the Pharo School/Pharo Foundation. For this post, a good ability in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Amharic, along with regional local languages of Benishangul-Gumuz is required

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise, a competency-based interview and a physical fitness test.

Special Notice

The Pharo School is a boarding school where female students, teachers and administrative staff reside. The incumbent is expected to live on campus. For this, the school will provide standard single room accommodation with meals.

The incumbent will be  required to work irregular or extended shift hours at times.  The incumbent will be required to be on call to handle any emergency situations that arise

Physical condition: Must be in excellent physical and mental shape. The selected candidate is subject to satisfactory medical clearance that may include a psychological test.
