About the role

This position will provide leadership to the growing finance portfolio with diverse contracts and donor demands (DFID, USAID, and Global Funds, European Union) and ensure that the country programme delivers timely, reliable, accurate and high-quality accounting and financial management. The post holder will, therefore, be required to manage the finance function, lead and set professional financial standards. The post holder will be responsible for effective financial management including the preparation of financial plans, the preparation of financial reports, managing the financial aspects of donor-funded programmes, commercial contracts and appeal funding, supporting and building the financial capacity of Christian Aid staff in the same country or region and facilitating external, internal and donor audits. This role will include supporting and supervising partner financial capacity and compliance function.

About you

You must have the following:

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent
  • Must be registered with the institute of Chartered Accounts in Malawi and the Malawi Accountants
    Board
  • Proven experience of overseeing a finance function involving complex funding and multiple
    institutional donors, delivering against corporate financial indicators and meeting financial targets
  • Extensive experience of developing and monitoring multi-funded, complex budgets and financial
    plans, including direct and indirect cost recovery
  • Successful track record in compliance with institutional donor contracts including financial reporting
    and audits
  • Extensive experience of preparing, consolidating and presenting financial reports for internal and
    external stakeholders including donors and senior managers
  • Working knowledge of institutional donor funders such as DFID, UN, EU
  • Proven ability to lead and manage an effective finance team
