Organization For Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) is an Ethiopian Residents Charity organization registered in FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) with Certificate No. 0421 and operating in Somali Region since 1999 GC. OWDA would like to announce the vacancy of the following position. Scope of the Work:
Health Program Coordinator based in Addis Ababa (HPC) will report to the Health Sector Coordinator. The main responsibility will be to manage health program at Addis Ababa level and regular support to Zonal Coordinators. Likewise, HPC will provide key cross cutting program support, new project proposal development, report writing as well as staff capacity building, health program annual planning, and other strategic initiatives as needed. The HPC will directly supervise Zonal health project coordinators.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Program Management and Development · Provide support to Health Zonal Coordinators and officer to ensure performance of the health projects. · Ensure project activities are monitored on a monthly basis against spending plans, and that well-structured corrective action is initiated and tracked where required. · Work closely with Health Sector Coordinator and other Coordinators on developing sound implementation plans, budgets, work plans, spending plans, procurement plans and other tools to successfully implement programs. · Work with sector coordinator, regional manager and executive director on development of new project proposal development, donor reports and other key documents needed. · Ensure grants management and donor compliance of HP in close collaboration with relevant OWDA Units including finance. · Support health sector coordinator in work development efforts as requested. · Provides technical assistance, consultation, and guidance to project staff, and stakeholder institutions to develop, extend, and improve health system service delivery and strategies planning. · Assists with the development and implementation of effective communication strategies to disseminate health information to zones, districts and health facilities and other entities as needed. · Facilitate and conduct regular field supports and routine review meetings with government technical persons and officials to monitor the implementation of health components of the program · Prepare work plan on annually, Quarterly and monthly basis ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct · Develop Bi –weekly update, monthly progress report to health sector coordinator and Quarterly report to the Donor on timely · Ensure mainstreaming of a standardized beneficiary feedback mechanism Coordination & Representation · Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government actors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs, and other relevant actors, in consultation with the Sector Coordinators and executive director. · Attend national health and nutrition cluster meeting and represent OWDA accordingly and share meeting update with health sector coordinator and executive director. Attend other meetings, workshops as per the need of OWDA · Timely Communication with staffs, donors and stakeholders and respond emails swiftly, if on leave or sick reply automatically Monitoring and Evaluation · Supervise HP activities bi-annually to ensure proper implementation of programs and cross-cutting support to the program. · Provide input and validation as needed on key M&E initiatives, such as monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. · Ensure national and regional health guidelines is known and used as a guiding tool for Zonal Coordinators, including in program design and indicator tracking. · Ensure that ethical and sound data is collected for appropriate program analysis, planning, evaluation, and advocacy in line with the overall program MEAL. · Develop and document case studies, success stories and best practice for effective knowledge transfer and management |
Coordination & Representation
- Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government actors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs, and other relevant actors, in consultation with the Sector Coordinators and executive director.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Duration of Contract:
- One year with possible extension
Job Requirements
- Fluency in writing and speaking English is required.
- Minimum of six years of relevant work experience in the Humanitarian field
- Proven leadership and strategic planning capabilities with demonstrated management ability.
- Willingness to travel to the field and occasionally overnight at field sites
- Master’s degree in relevant subject is preferred.
- Commitment to and understanding of OWDA’s aims, values and principles.
- Local language (Somali) speaker is preferable.
- 70% work at Addis Ababa and 30% at field level.
