Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD), a Non-Political and non-profit Ethiopian Resident Charity is currently implementing Different projects in Amhara National Regional State, in collaboration with different partners.

 Currently, MSD is looking for qualified and competent applicants from Internal staffs for the position of HIV Testing Service /HTS/ Specialist for the project titled: “USAID Family Focused HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment Services Activity” (FFHPCTS)-in Amhara Region”.

Job Summary:

HTS Specialist is responsible to the overall HIV Testing Services through HTS-ICT, HTS-HIVST & HTS-Recent, new case identification and linkage to ART services by customizing new testing and case identification strategies that are applicable to PEPFAR/USAID community HIV prevention, care and treatment program. He is working in collaboration with different government and private health facilities, PLHIV associations, community-based associations and partners in order to boost the C & T services within the program SNUs.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Support & Facilitate HTS/ICT, HIV-ST/ICT activities at community level and ensure new case identification
  • Collaborate with health facilities in identifying stable and unstable clients, ensure linkage of clients refer from community to health facility,
  • Conduct real time new HIV Case linkage data verifications in collaboration HFs, health offices and CHFHSLCs
  • Support & Monitor the overall community HTS/HIV-ST/ICT activities at community level
  • Ensure all HTS/ICT/HIV-ST/ICT and new cases activities are entered to commcare data entry timely
  • Collaborate with other project activities such as Care & Treatment, OVC Services & M & E activities
  • Ensure the wisely utilization of HTS supplies such as RTK, and other supplies
  • Work closely with HF staffs in identifying the pool and support ICT implementation for all biological children of Adults living with HIV in the community or facility level
  • Promote to Conduct HIV testing at community level (HTS/ICT, HIVST/ICT) and ensure new case identification
  • Support & Mentor the overall community HTS activities in collaboration with HFs, SSWS, CSVs, and CHFHLCs
  • Participate in MDT , CAM and case conference meetings organized by HFS, HOs
  • Work closely with HF staffs in identify the pool and support ICT implementation for all biological children of Adults living with HIV in the community or facility level
  • Ensure Service integration among OVC programs (HTS/ICT, C & T, OVC serve)
  • Ensure SDPs are full filing minimum requirements/standards
  • Ensure all HTS/ICT, HIV-ST/ICT SoPs/Guidelines, job aids, M & E tools, registers are available at each SDP and its proper utilizations
  • Conduct routine and periodical monitoring and SSP activities using structural checklists
  • Assess the capacity limitations of CHFHSLCs and provide demand based feedbacks
  •  Ensure all HTS/ICT, HIV-ST/ICT, new case identifications, linkage to treatment activities are implemented in line with standard SoP & procedures
  • Ensure all government policies all kept in place regarding HTS/ICT, HIV-ST/ICT, new case identifications, linkage to treatment activities
  • Participate in FFHPCTS project planning activities
  • Participate in review meetings organized by government, MSD and FFHPCTS prime.
  • Responsible for weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarter level reports preparations
  • Participate in documentation of best practices and lessons and all project assets
  •  Carry out other related activities as may be assigned by immediate supervisor

Duration of contract: one year with possible extension based on performance & fund availability.

Job Requirements

Educational Background: 

  •  BSC in Nursing/MPH, BSC HO/ MPH from reognized college/university.

B. Experience:

  • 4 years & above for BSC Diploma and 3 & above years for MPH.
  • The work experiences must be direct & proven. NGO Experience is  advantageous.

Applicants expected to present the following basic & valid training certificates:

  • Practical experience on HIV Testing and Care & Treatment activities
  • Training on HTS/ICT/ HIV-ST/ICT
  • Training on comprehensive ART, Sexual Transmitted Infection & TB/HIV
  • Training on Mentorship, Coaching, data verifications (Optional)
  • Training on data quality management (Optional)

Technical Skills & other Essentials

  • Good command of /both written & verbal communication skills/ in English and Amharic
  • Excellent in communication and interpersonal skills
  • Practical Experiences on report writing, data collection & analysis,
  • Computer literate (MS words, MS XL, MS PPTs, Access data base)
  • Practical Experiences/sensitive to email communication
  • Practical Experiences on documentation, SSP & monitoring, team work
  • Must be willing to perform other duties as necessary
  • Training on HIV counseling and testing on new algorism
