REPSSI (Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative) is the leading African psychosocial support organisation. REPSSI’s vision is that all girls, boys and youth have the right to enjoy psychosocial and mental wellbeing. REPSSI has strong partnerships with governments (particularly the ministries responsible for social services, education and health), development partners, international organisations and NGOs in thirteen countries of East and Southern Africa.

REPSSI seeks to appoint a Human Resources Manager to be based in Randburg, Johannesburg.

This is a part time position, which will work two to three days a week.

The position will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Human Resources Manager’s role consists of planning, directing, and coordinating human resource management activities of REPSSI to maximise the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, regulatory compliance in all countries where REPSSI operates, talent management and managing change processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and administering human resources plans and procedures that relate to company personnel
  • Planning, organising, and controlling the activities and actions of the HR department
  • Contributing to the development of HR department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Administer compensation, benefits and performance management and improvement systems, change management processes, and safety and recreation programmes
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
  • Analyse and modify compensation and benefit policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Support managers and maintains human resource staff by identifying staff vacancies, recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, fostering positive attitude toward REPSSI objectives
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities relating to conditions of employment, compensation, labour relations, and employee relations; supporting mangers in all countries where REPSSI operates
  • Plan, organise, direct, control or coordinate the personnel, training, or labour relations activities of an organisation
  • Oversight of disciplinary processes, refereeing disputes, enquiries and hearings. Representing the organisation at personnel-related hearings and investigations
  • Plan and implement employee wellness programmes including employee communication and relations and change management processes
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to motivate and develop people as they work, and identify the best people for the job
  • Ability to be aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do, to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, and to bring others together and trying to reconcile differences
