Key accountabilities

Project implementation 

  • Support the development of detail work plan, for immunization strengthening project
  • Provide technical assistance for Woreda health office and health facilities in the development of woreda level immunization micro plans
  • Closely work with the Immunization Strengthening Project Manager and SBCC Officer to come up with culturally appropriate EPI messages to raise awareness of community members on EPI
  • Facilitate/support procurements specified in the project documents are planned, requested, purchased and delivered on a timely manner. Provide technical assistance and organize logistics support for Woreda Health Office/ARRA in the refugee camps in the planning and implementation of Sub National and National Immunization activities or campaigns
  • Coordinate with government, and project partners working on EPI at the different levels through organizing woreda level EPI taskforce meetings.
  • Organize, support/facilitate trainings for HWs, HEWs, CVs, teachers, PTAs and other community members, on immunization, and community mobilization
  • Support documentation of EPI activities through provision of recording and reporting formats (EPI and outreach monitoring charts, tally sheets, and refrigerator temperature monitoring sheets)
  • Work on special emphasis on awareness raising, social mobilization and community empowerment strategies to reinforce the community’s role in supporting immunization activities
  • Build capacity of community structures at grass root level to support EPI activities in the implementation woredas
  • Organize review meetings with the woreda health office/ARRA to review the activities of HWs/HEWs and CVs as well as for experience sharing and reflective learning
  • Organize/conduct regular supportive supervisions to review and support the EPI activities of the HWs/HEWs and CVs
  • Ensure all project interventions are implemented effectively and efficiently as per the project document
  • Implement and monitor the project’s activities according to work plans and budgets
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

  • Prepare, review and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of the project on a timely manner to the Immunization Strengthening Project manager
  • Support during the planning and implementation of project related surveys and studies
  • Document, organize, and share the proceedings and reports of all trainings/ capacity building workshops and project related meetings with the project manager;
  • In collaboration with the Immunization Strengthening Project Manager assist the development of articles, case studies or other written materials regarding best practices, lessons learned etc.
  • Document experiences and challenges encountered in the process of project implementation: capacity building, provision of technical support and demand creation
  • Conduct regular supportive and joint supportive supervisions to project sites with respective government partners
  • Plan and facilitate regularly scheduled reviews of projects with ARRA/ woreda health office heads/experts and HWs/HEWs, and community volunteers, community influential leaders in the implementation areas

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Public Health or health related fields
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant work experience (3 years’ experience for degree and 5 years for diploma holders) in the area child health and immunization
  • Trainings on IIP, Immunization Cold chain users, and Immunization MLM trainings and INGO work experience is an asset
  • Solid understanding of the Ethiopian health policy and strategies, as well as the health sector transformation plan and the health extension platform
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Prior working experience with NGOs especially focusing on immunization program implementation, training and capacity building activities
  • Good command in written and spoken English.
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
  • Good command in the local language – Agnuwak, Nuer, and Amharic languages
