Organizational Setting and Reporting
The UNODC Regional Office in the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of the Representative and in cooperation with the Communications Officer.
Responsibilities
- Support the drafting and preparing of webstories, press releases, newsletters, and web content for publication on UNODC ROMENA’s website.
- Conduct document and internet research for communication products on UNODC work in the region
- Collaborate in working on UNODC ROMENA’s Social Media Platforms
- Assistance during conferences
- Assistance in graphic design
- Compiling statistics
- Media analysis
- Assistance in the management of the website
- Assistance in translating and editing documents

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation (OFFICIAL PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY IN SUPPORT OF ONE OF THE ABOVE OPTIONS HAS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);
- Be computer literate in standard software applications;
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Background in communications is desirable.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Language
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required for the internship. Knowledge of French is an asset.
