Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first NGO in the healthcare area officially recognized in Italy.
Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, CUAMM is working in Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.

JOB TITLE: Internist

JOB LOCATION: Mozambique, Maputo/Quelimane

START DATE: January 2021

DURATION: 6-12 months

REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Medicine with further specialization or equivalent title in Internal Medicine
  • Good knowledge of Portuguese
  • Previous experience in developing countries
  • Ability to adapt

KEY DUTIES
Within projects on non-communicable diseases, the internist is called to guarantee the quality of the management model and outpatient monitoring of the chronically ill. The main activities will be:

  • supervises the quality of outpatient diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services for uncomplicated patients in the project sites, in collaboration with dedicated staff
  • contributes to the collection, transmission and analysis of data on non-communicable diseases, collaborating with the statistical and planning teams
  • supports project leaders in analyzing the situation at provincial and national level in the field of chronic non-communicable diseases, in particular diabetes, hypertension and cervical cancer
  • collaborates in the planning and implementation of training courses and on-the-job training activities and guarantees periodic supervision of on-the-job training in the healthcare facilities involved
  • contributes to the preparation of reports – for the part of competence – and to the scientific documentation of the activities and results of the projects
  • collaborates in the identification and definition of new research areas in the field of chronic non-communicable diseases.
