 DESCRIPTION

CARE Ethiopia is planning to establish an Internship Program to the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth (MoWCY) under its “Seizing the Moment Project” exclusively aimed at Female Fresh Graduates. The purpose of the internship program is to attract and support bright and qualified Female recent university graduates interested in learning about development work, and provide them with first-hand exposure to professional work experience. The internship will give new female graduates the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to MoWCY and CARE Ethiopia’s work. The program promotes female graduates by providing them with learning and growth opportunities and professional work experience, and prepares them for their future career prospects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assignments/tasks will vary in terms of content in that interns will have sector/unit specific tasks/focus area. The duties given below are therefore generic and may vary from one unit to the other. However, every attempt will be made to match the interests of the Intern with the needs of the organization/project. Interns will be assigned a direct supervisor and will be given specific term of reference which clearly defines tasks related to their area of study, in line with the requesting unit/section requirements and objectives.

  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Seizing the Moment project
  • Undertake research, analysis of the findings and prepare briefing notes and reports on assigned subject areas of interest and also develop lesson learned and share with the appropriate body
  • Assist in the preparation and design of knowledge products and materials, brochures, newsletters etc.
  • Perform assignments relating to project design, planning, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation and closing activities;
  • Provide technical support and assist the coordination of training activities closely with the GED officer
  • Assist the unit in preparing detailed quarterly activity reports and other updates as and when required
  • Assist in event organizing (trainings, workshops, seminars, etc) and draft/edit reports of the same
  • Undertake day-to-day programme tasks as required.

Job Requirements

Candidates for the Internship Program will be selected on a competitive basis and must meet the following criteria;

  1. EDUCATION:Must meet the required education background
  2. WORK EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year maximum
  3. TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Required:

  • Good written and verbal, Amharic and English language skills
  • Good communication, time management and organization skills
  • Interest in social sciences and community service
  • Strong planning skill and being task oriented
  • Team player, open to learning, flexible and able to work in multi-cultural teams
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Ms. Word, excel, power point)
  • Quick learning/adaption and strong interpersonal skills
  1. Competencies

Respect, accountability, courage, excellence, building partnership, analytical ability, stress tolerance, initiating action, customer focus, interpersonal skill and planning and organizing

Contractual Terms and Conditions

  • Any offer made to the candidate in relation to this vacancy notice is subject to funding confirmation.
  • Duration of the internship: 9-10 months on a contract employment bases
  • Work Hours: The work hours and timeframe is Monday to Friday, 2:30-11:00 local time
  • Financial Support:CARE Ethiopia provides a fixed stipend as per the organizations’ policy for interns.
  • Employment Prospects:CARE Ethiopia Internship Program is not connected with employment and there is no expectancy of such but interns can apply for internal/external job vacancies advertised at MoWCYA or CARE Ethiopia or during or after the period of the internship.
  • Insurance Coverage:  CARE Ethiopia accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship.
