Key Responsibilities:
The Junior Veterinarian will be responsible to Assists the project coordinator in overall conceptual direction, management and oversight of the grant component of the project.She/he will have following responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a detailed work plan to meet the objective of the HEARD project document.
- Prepares Terms of Refrences,Concept notes related to execution of project activities
- Plans and facilitates workshops,trainings,meetings related to the project activities
- Assist the project coordinator in planning,implementation, monitoring of EVA-led project activities.
- Assist the Project coordinator to verify correct application of contract award procedures and to accept the corresponding works,supplies and services under the grant commponent;
- Ensure that project goods and services to be financed by the EDF are procured according to the EDF rules and procedures for procurement of goods and works and technical assistance
- Assist in organising the monitoring and evaluations, and for managing and guiding the Action technically, administratively and financially.
- Ensures strengthening of communication and exchange of information among stakeholders, most importantly the joint project management with ILRI,EUD,NAO and Regional grant holders
- Represents the HEARD project and the EVA in different meetings
- Submit monthly, quarterly and yearly activity and financial reports to the Project Coordinator
Employment: One year contract with possible extension
Job Requirements
Requirements and Skills:
- She/he shall have a DVM or post graduate degree in veterinary medicine and be a member of EVA
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience of which 3 years demonstrated experience in project management including human resource management, budgeting, report-writing, proposal development, and monitoring and evaluation of projects.
- Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to livestock agriculture in particular animal health with an understanding of sustainable development.
- Excellent leadership skill, result oriented, problem solving attitude and with particular skills to work very closely with government offices, NGOs, development partners, the private sector, livestock producers and their organizations.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite, internet and expert ability in analysis and interpretation of results.
- Specialization in veterinary medicine is of an advantage.
- Special training on office management or project management or Monitoring & Evaluation or related fields will be an asset.
