JOB TITLE: Livelihood Assistant (1) position ( Open to Somali National only)

BASE LOCATION: Baidoa

REPORT TO: Project Officer

LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: None

JOB SUMMARY

The FSL Assistant- will play a crucial role in the effective and timely implementation of FSL projects in Baidoa. The FSL Assistant will report to the project Officer in duty station with close working relationship with the, Area Manager, logistics, Admin and HR team. The FSL Assistant will ensure the highest level of data integrity and implementation of FSL Quality benchmarks and other CTP protocols and capacity building to the community mobilizers and beneficiaries

Key Duties and Responsibilities

o To participate in the need assessment to identify the most vulnerable households (men and women) to be supported with livelihood activities

o To work closely with the project beneficiaries to help them identify the livelihood opportunities based on their desire

o To work closely with the Project Officer in planning for the project activities and share regular plan with Project Officer..

o To work closely with Project Officer and stakeholders to empower environment them through identifying existing skills, strengths and abilities and develop resilience.

o Develop and implementation plan with Project Officer and ensure the effective tracking of the project

o Develop an action plan strategy with Project Officer for the implementation stage of this project to ensure the effectiveness of a collaborative service system approach

o Support beneficiaries to identify local resources opportunities including market availability

o To directly participate in the small business kits distribution as per the project plans

o To develop progress reports based on monitoring plan and Logical framework

o Conduct regular visits to the field for project activities implementation

o Conduct regular follow-up and with the project beneficiaries

o Participate in the beneficiaries verification process for livelihood activities

o To monitor project progress, identify problem and recommend solution

o Participate in need assessment and feedback to the project management and data collection

o Prepare reports on weekly, monthly, quarterly and Annually basis

o Perform assigned related task by the project management

o Attend all cluster meetings and any other stakeholders’ meetings and work closely with the relevant line ministry

o Participate in the beneficiary selection and documentation

· Train the beneficiaries on GSLA and small-scale entrepreneurship

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Work independently on tasks related to beneficiary registration and mobilization with periodic reporting and direction from supervisor;

• Make decisions on project implementation and its daily management responsibly based on available resources, skills and knowledge of staff and access to affected communities;

• Ensure implementation of locally appropriate and feasible projects in close consultation with local authorities and communities;

• Work in adherence to IR’s policies and procedures

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

Ø Extensive experience in working for NGO or INGOs on Development fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience

Ø Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders.

Ø Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English

Ø Good writing and reporting skills

Ø Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Power point).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Development studies or related field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Ø Minimum of one-year experience in the field of Livelihood/Agriculture working with INGOs/NGOs

Ø Previous experience working in the relevant fields is an advantage

Additional job responsibilities

Ø Attend all cluster meetings and any other stakeholders’ meetings and work closely with the relevant line ministry

Ø Participate in the beneficiary selection and documentation

Train the beneficiaries on GSLA and small-scale entrepreneurship
