SCI strategy for livelihoods interventions focuses on refugees’ access to employment and micro-entrepreneurial activities. SCI engaged with the private sector in Greater Cairo to provide livelihoods support across two pathways – wage employment and micro enterprise. SCI livelihoods activities drew on proven packages of intervention through a holistic approach addressing various refugees’ needs to accelerate outcomes for the brief period of implementation for livelihoods support.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Livelihoods coach will be responsible for the support of SCI’s livelihoods activities for refugees, asylum seekers and their host communities. The position includes the management of cases and the provision of Coaching to the livelihood beneficiaries. Furthermore, he/she will deliver training and ensure their understanding and ability to develop their skills. These skills will be used to maintain a job. Finally, the Livelihoods coach is expected to understand all needs of the beneficiaries in order to refer them to internal/external service providers while following up with them to ensure sustainability of the livelihood intervention.

Reports to: Wage Employment Senior Officer.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation:

  • Participate in the monthly field plans development of the wage employment activities for youth refugees and host communities.
  • Ensure that all activities are implemented in line with Save the Children’s policies and procedures, and adhering to donor requirements and guidelines.

Wage Employment Cycle Implementation:

  • Open/updating cases files for the wage employment participants and collect information about their needs (health, psychosocial, and educational) in addition to identifying the cases for referrals.
  • Conduct one to one assessment with each participant to identify the eligibility to the program and match him/her with the most appropriate and available job opportunities
  • Coordinate with the employers’ focal point to ensure the proper placement for each participant.
  • The delivery of the youth resilience training developed by saves the children.
  • Support the technical trainings for the wage employment track participants based on their need.
  • Coach the livelihoods participants during the wage employment cycle (Assessment –employment – behavioural training – technical raining – follow up after employment)
  • Follow up with the employed beneficiaries and provide them with career counselling.
  • Coordinate with the project psychologist for conduction the group/one to one psychological support sessions

Documentation and reporting

  • Maintain records of project beneficiaries’ interactions – case management updates.
  • Ensure information is captured accurately on our data collection system/devices
  • Prepare monthly field activities’ and achievements’ reports.

Partnerships/Networks

  • Support engaging civil society partners in collaborations and networks to ensure the most vulnerable refugees’ issues are highlighted;
  • Advocate that all service providers, employers and organizations act in best interest of refugee youth and host communities.
  • Support the livelihoods referral system.

  • Experience in coaching for specific group of beneficiaries.
  • Ability to deliver trainings and critically think about the materials’ content and contextualization to the targeted beneficiary.
  • Understanding of refugee situation in Greater Cairo area.
  • Ability to network, follow-up and advocate with different service providers.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation skills and working under pressure.
  • Ability to accurately document information (Organizational and administrative skills).
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) and good in English is required
  • Commitment to SCI values and Child Safeguarding policy.

Desirable:

  • Academic or professional degree in development related fields is desirable.
  • Familiar with African refugee context in Egypt and associated political/cultural sensitivities.
  • Experience in supporting marginalized communities.
