Handles the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supp lies and equipment.  Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items as necessary.  Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift.  Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped.  Posts weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment.  Examines stocks and distributes orders for company inventory and supplies.

Accountabilities:

  • Manages the shipping and receiving of domestic and international packages for the organization.
  • Maintains the retention of company records at off-site warehouse for storing and retrieving.
  • Maintains and coordinates off-site warehouse activities for the organization and ensures off-site procedures are adhered to by company staff.
  • Ensures all orders and supplies are moved to the proper locations for storage or delivery.
  • Verifies and process all documentation, system transactions and handling requirements associated with all inbound and outbound orders and supplies.
  • Works with accounting to ensure all receiving and shipping transactions are complete and accurate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Problem Solving & Impact:

  • Works on problems that are moderate in scope and require judgment in resolving or making recommendations.
  • Exercises judgment within defined policies and procedures to obtain solutions and perform duties.
  • Decisions made generally affect own job or specific functional area.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Has no supervisory responsibility.
  • Receives instructions on new assignments.
  • Typically reports to a Manager.

Education:

  • High School/GED Diploma or international equivalent.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 0-3 years of material handling and storage methods experience.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.

  • None
