Background

NRC is currently working in Burkina Faso and Niger as one country program, with staff dedicated to assisting people affected by conflict. However, in 2023 the Country Office will be split into two distinct country offices one for Burkina Faso and one for Niger. NRC’s humanitarian interventions are based on its programming expertise in the Core Competencies of Shelter, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Livelihoods and Food Security, along with Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) to vulnerable displaced people that were forced to flee as well as in host communities.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed humanitarian worker with 3 years’ experience of working in a senior logistics management position in a humanitarian/recovery context. NRC is particularly looking for a logistics manager with the strength and vision to support fresh and innovative teams of highly professional logistics staff across our areas of operations. A strategic thinker, connector, with strong logistics management skills and an individual with a solid understanding of the Sahelien context. Candidates with a thorough understanding, and experience of working with logistics systems and procedures are particularly encouraged to apply.

Roles and responsibilities

  1. Ensure that the country set up for logistic complies with NRC Logistic handbook, policies and donor requirements
  2. Implement NRC’s logistics systems and procedures and develop country specific SOP’s to ensure good practices in place
  3. Capacity building and support of logistic and non-logistic staff with logistical responsibilities
  4. Line management of the logistics team at the country office, including recruitment and performance management
  5. Managing timely procurement processes for national and international purchasing and tenders
  6. Analyse and manage market assessments within the scope of work and at the request of programme/project developers
  7. Ensure proper donor compliance and internally reporting is accurately documented for the delivery of goods and services.
  8. Ensure anti-corruption, transparency and cost-efficient focus in procedures and trainings
  9. Establish filing systems/archives according to NRC logistics standards in all offices
  10. Initiate and maintain necessary leases, licenses and contracts with relevant authorities and suppliers

Professional competencies

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a senior Logistics Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
  2. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  3. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  4. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  5. Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal
  6. Valid driver’s license
