Overview of the position:

• Digitalization is pushing the maritime industry beyond its traditional limits & provides many new opportunities to enhance the productivity, efficiency & sustainability of port & maritime logistics.

Role objective:

• Objective of this position is technical assistance to the Ministry of Ports & Marine Transports with modern information technologies to enable a better planning & management within & between ports.

Expected output:

Accountability:

• Evaluate situation of port information & flow/channels to identify areas for strengthening with digital solutions/systems/linkages.
• Identify & propose range of solutions/systems applicable – including costs and time frame within which they can be implemented.
• Implement/develop approved solutions/systems.
• Develop training material & train personnel on usage of implemented solutions/systems.

Deliverable’s at the end of the contract:

• Evaluation report.
• Proposal document of applicable solutions/systems.
• Approved solutions/systems are up & running.
• Training material.

Project reporting:

• This role reports to the Project Manager.

Team management:

• This role does not have team management responsibility.

Geographical experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Africa (desirable).

Experience:

• At least 5 years of professional experience in information technology jobs or port & international shipping operations.

Education:

• University Degree or completion of superior Information Technology Institution.

Languages:

• Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
