SAADO – Smile Again Africa Development Organization is a national non- profit humanitarian and

development organization dedicated to working with the youth and their communities to reach their full

potential. Founded in 2011, SAADO works across all the states of South Sudan promoting social cohesion and empowering communities to tackle the causes of poverty and injustices. We provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by disaster & conflict while partnering with communities for long – term solutions to alleviate poverty. Motivated by the potential in the youth, we optimize their role to foster peaceful co-existence and economic empowerment in south Sudan.

Brace II Brief

BRACE II is a two and half year program that aims to address immediate food insecurity to avert hunger and leverage sustainable positive change in community food security and livelihoods. BRACE II is supporting interventions based on the approach known as ‘Food for Work/Assets’ or ‘Cash for Work/Assets’ in which vulnerable households receive cash or food (the delivery choice is dependent on the status of local markets) in return for work on livelihoods/productive assets that improves their resilience against climate shocks and food insecurity.

BRACE II program is centered on four main objectives:

  • Address immediate hunger gaps (through conditional cash/food assistance)
  • Improve longer-term food security (through addressing some of the underlying causes of food insecurity and malnutrition by supporting the creation of community assets and improving skills and knowledge)
  • Increase capacity to absorb, anticipate and adapt to climate variability and extremes

Improve community relationships

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager (BRACE II), the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer will support M&E strategies to enhance data collection, compliance, and capacity building of staff in M&E, provide high quality monitoring and learning frameworks, reporting, publication and documentation of results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the preparation of annual reports, county program profiles, periodic progress reports, donor progress reports, program statistics, peer-reviewed publications, lessons learned, best practices and other materials;
  • Conduct regular field visits to program sites to strengthen M&E capacity.
  • Orient and train staff in understanding and applying results based monitoring and evaluation policies, tools and methods.
  • Provide support on training in the development of M&E Plans, M&E tools, contribute survey design, methodology, data analysis, and other services.
  • Provide Assistance to projects staff on data gathering, monitoring and analysis.
  • Collate M& E data from the field for effective documentation, reporting and learning;
  • Work with program teams to develop and ensure databases of all projects are kept up to date and are accessible for effective use of the information.
  • Provide support to donor reporting to ensure that reports cover outcome indicators and strategic information on results and impact interventions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • At least a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Demography, Development Planning, and Statistics or a related technical field relations or related field and 3 years work experience.
  • Additional Professional training in M&E desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistical software (such as SPSS, STATA, and SAS). Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (or similar tools) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with DFID funded programs and reporting frameworks will be a distinct advantage.
  • Willing to travel frequently to project sites/areas to work with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Arabic and local South Sudan languages in the project target area.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and coordination skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize assignments.
