Isibani Development Partners is a South African-registered NGO, launched in 2011 to become a leading local technical assistance provider, systems strengthening and grants manager for health and social service in Southern Africa. Isibani Development Partners has been appointed by the National Department of Health to serve as one of the GLOBAL FUND TB Sub-Recipients (SRs) in South Africa.

Isibani Development Partners seeks to appoint a Medical Officer to be based in Ekurhuleni District, Gauteng

The Medical Officer will be placed at district level to capacitate and mentor facility-based staff to diagnose Xpert-negative TB, including clinical TB based on DCXR, childhood TB diagnosis and assessment for LTBI treatment particularly for children five years and contacts of DR-TB index patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with districts to support all TB related activities under the grant
  • Ensure that routine testing of newly diagnosed HIV positive clients for TB is conducted
  • Ensure that there is routine testing of HIV positive pregnant women for TB on enrolment in antenatal care
  • Ensure that testing of clients for TB using X-pert ultra and urine LAM is done
  • Ensure treatment of all eligible patients for LTBI
  • Ensure and support monitoring, reporting and management of adverse drug events for first line TB medicines (ADSM)
  • Conduct capacity building for health care workers on clinical management, infection control and medical ethics
  • Support project staff placed at facility level
  • Conduct quality of care assessments
  • Provide support to decentralised sites
  • Ability to compile and submit monthly and quarterly technical reports

Requirements:

  • MBChB degree with valid HPCSA registration
  • Post graduate degree in HIV and/or TB management will be an added advantage
  • Experience in the HIV/AIDS and TB Programmes, health systems strengthening and capacity building
  • Strong leadership qualities and clinical knowledge
  • Minimum of three years of proven experience in the field of TB control including principles, methodologies, techniques and practices in tuberculosis control
