Under the overall direct supervision of the Mental Health & Psycho Social Support Program Manager & overall supervision of Deputy Chief of Mission, the successful candidates will be responsible & accountable for the direct implementation of the IOM MHPSS activities as part of the Migrant Resource & Response Mechanism (MRRM) in Tripoli.

Role objectives

Technical:

  • Conduct outreach visits as part of an integrated IOM team.
  • Provide psycho social support to the members of the migrant community.
  • Plan & implement group & individual psycho social activities to promote mental health & well being.
  • Make necessary referral to other units, programs & departments within IOM & to other stakeholders.
  • Conduct a services mapping exercise in order to identify other units & stakeholders working to address the needs of migrants in target areas.
  • Liaise closely & coordinate with the health & protection teams working in the area. This includes meetings, workshops training’s & so on.
  • Undertake all administrative & office related to ensuring the successful implementation of tasks & the project activities.
  • When required, develop Purchase Request Forms (PRFs), get necessary approval & liaise with other unit / programs / departments within IOM to ensure that all travel & venue booking is completed in time.
  • Develop all necessary paper work & get necessary approval liaising with other unit / programs / departments within IOM to ensure that all arrangements for training’s to conducted in Tunis & Libya are being completed on time.
  • Report any challenges & potentials hiccups in the process to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
  • Support the Program Manager in identifying capacity building opportunities in Libya for CSO’s & govt. counterparts, develop training materials & contribute to the delivery of training’s if required (translation or leading sessions).
  • Attend training sessions & document all process for processing approvals, authorisations maintaining up to date copies of all documents.
  • Work on creating a system for proper documentation.
  • Provide the Program Manager with timely & accurate information of delivered activities & in compliance with IOM reporting formats & time frames.
  • Liaise with other IOM units in particular MRRM & protection in addition to VHR, health & technical cooperation & community stabilisation to guarantee a holistic approach to responses, management of identified cases & referral when necessary.
  • Liaise with IOM partners, especially CSO’s & govt. counterparts to ensure interventions are delivered in line with international guidelines & standards & IOM policies.
  • Travel to any location as requested by the direct supervisor when / where necessary.
  • Attend meetings, both programmatic & technical on regular basis.
  • Liaise closely with the MH professional to better follow up on cases.
  • Submit weekly & monthly reports documents all activities & services provided.
  • Staff should prepare a report after each activities (IOM template)
  • Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the PM.

Project reporting

This role works under the direct supervision of the Mental Health & Psycho Social Support Program Manager & overall supervision of Deputy Chief of Mission.

Key competenciesEducation & experience:

  • Graduate studies in Social, Psychological or any other relevant fields such as Human Sciences, Public Health, etc.
  • Proven experience in computer specifically report writing.
  • At least 3 years of previous experiences in providing services to displaced populations, migrants, refugees or conflict affected populations.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in the fields of social work, psychology, public / community health, sociology program in emergency settings.
  • Demonstrated experience & knowledge of UN & international agencies structures.
  • Experience in capacity building activities & curriculum development is an advantage.

Languages:

  • Fluency in written & oral English & Arabic is required, knowledge of French is an advantage.
