Overall purpose of the role: Under the supervision of the 4Mi Project Manager, the MMC Project Coordinator for Tunisia is in charge of the implementation of the 4Mi research project in Tunisia. He/she supervises and manages data collection collected by 4Mi Field Monitors, ensures quality control over the data collection, coordinates with MMC in North Africa on management and strategic development of activities in Tunisia, and supports MMC operations in Tunisia. Occasionally, he/she contributes to the analysis of data and writing of the research outputs.

Responsibilities:

Team and quality management

· Responsible for the daily supervision of the 4Mi operations in Tunisia and ensuring a high level of quality in data collected;

· Supports line manager in the selection, training and daily supervision of 4Mi Field Monitors, as per regional guidelines;

· Supervises between 10 and 20 4Mi monitors in Tunisia;

· Supervise 1 Project Assistant in the country and contributes to their professional development;

· In coordination with the 4Mi regional team, ensure the development of adequate tracking, monitoring and internal communication tools;

· Work closely with support departments to make timely payments to all field-based monitors;

· In collaboration with the Information Management and Analysis Officer, responsible for the monthly validation and cleaning of data according to MMC’s standards;

· Proactively contribute to the 4Mi strategy in Tunisia and in the region;

· Proactively suggest, develop and implement appropriate technical and management tools to carry out his/her task effectively;

· Take the lead in proposing creative solutions when meeting challenges in project implementation;

Coordination

· Daily monitoring and reporting of relevant information that might affect the smooth implementation of project activities in the country;

· Occasionally represent MMC at coordination meetings with DRC teams or humanitarian partners working on Tunisia;

· Occasionally communicate on MMC’s activities according to DRC’s code of conduct;

Research

· Contribute to the design of the MMC research agenda,

· Occasionally, contribute to the design of qualitative and quantitative questionnaires, conduct fieldwork and contributes to data analysis and report writing;

· Stay up-to-date on the latest mixed migration research in Tunisia;

Other

Any additional tasks in support of the 4Mi project.

Experience and technical competencies:

· At least 3- year experience in supervising teams, preferably in outreach projects;

· At least 3-year experience in data collection, conducting surveys and other research activities;

· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mixed migration issues, particularly within the Tunisian context;

· Proficiency in IT systems, including android-based applications;

· Outstanding organizational skills;

· Excellent ability to work under minimal supervision and strong problem-solving skills;

· Enthusiastic about learning, excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

Strong verbal and written communication.

Education:

· Preferably Master’s degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to research methods, international development, migration studies or business administration.

Languages:

· Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic;

Professional proficiency of French is an asset

Coordination & Operational Services: Coordination and management of refugee and IDP camps, active participation in UN cluster coordination, humanitarian surveys and studies, facilitation of NGO Networks focused on displacement solutions, capacity development, training and support to local NGOs, secondment of experts to UN emergency operations worldwide

Community Infrastructure & Services: Provision of physical infrastructure like roads, bridges, community centres, irrigation systems or other community structures, facilitation and training of infrastructure management groups at community level, facilitation and funding of community development plans, initiatives for disaster risk reduction at community level.

Humanitarian Mine Action: Manual or mechanical mine clearance, clearance of former battle areas, education for affected communities – with special focus on children on how to avoid harm from mines and UXO, surveys of expected and confirmed mined or UXO areas, explosive ordnance disposal and stockpile destruction, capacity building of national demining institutions.

Armed Violence Reduction (AVR): Education in procedures for safe storage and safe handling of small arms and light weapons (SALW), capacity building of institutions for safety, local and community level conflict management and mitigation.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Emergency water supply, hygiene item distribution, hygiene information and education, construction of latrines, installation water points, wells and water storage. Water purification.

Education: Education grants and fee support, school feeding programmes, teacher training and support, school materials provision and construction or rehabilitation of school structures.
