The Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity, part of the United States Government initiative and Ethiopia’s Agricultural Growth Program II, has the strategic objective of improving smallholder productivity and commercialization. Implemented by Fintrac Inc. The Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity is inviting competent candidates to apply for the positions of Organizational Strengthening Specialist in Oromia region based in Addis Ababa. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated development practitioner to make a real contribution to smallholder commercialization and agriculture transformation

Major job responsibilities

He/she has to undertake the following specific tasks;

  • Consults with regional BOANR and stakeholders to capacity building  gaps in the regions
  • Identify weredas for capacity Building in close collaboration with other technical staffs in the region including other stakeholders.
  • Liaising with partners and stakeholders and coordinate workshops, seminars, conferences, training programs for capacity building.
  • Facilitate all capacity building activities in the region- identify participants, make sure all the necessary supplies and logistics is in place for effective execution of events.
  • Developing a database of donor projects engaged in capacity building and track their work to facilitate collaboration and cooperation
  • Liaising with regional concerned government institutions and associations and facilitate consultancy works performed by STTAs and firms
  • Managing the production and documentation of training manuals, modules, leaflets and flyers produced by consultants and staff for capacity building works.
  • Prepare budget for capacity building activities and request a wire transfer from Addis office.
  • Coordinating technical studies, need assessments and related field works related to building the capacity of value chain actors.
  • Organize and implement experience sharing with capacity building focus through different networks.
  • Communicates regularly with other program staffs about the technical assistance needs of the value chain actors.
  • Participate in regional capacity building and policy initiatives in collaboration with other programs and government institutions
  • Coordinate regional level dialogue for sectoral associations, relevant stakeholders and concerned regional officials for enabling environment
  • Regularly report capacity building activities by partners, capacity building work plans, and recommendations for capacity building team in Addis.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Education or agriculture or other related field from a recognized university
  • At least 1 years relevant professional experience in capacity Building and 5  years of experience  within an NGO, preferably with experience working with USAID projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to work with minimum supervision in order to meet changing deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; in English, Amharic and regional language is desirable;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Proven knowledge and experience to use MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook, internet
  • Excellent coordination, team building, and management skills
