JOB PURPOSE
The Pharmacy logistics officer will work under the direction of Health and Nutrition Grant Manager and will be responsible for timely preparation and distribution of Emergency Health Kits to the district and health facilities. S/he will support the distribution of emergency health kits in the 2 Districts of West Wellega and others as the geographical scope of the project expands.
Major Responsibilities:
· Lead timely preparation and distribution of Emergency Health Kits to the district and health facilities and Support forecasting and quantification of emergency health kits obtained from the designated warehouse and those procured through the Project |
· Provide technical assistance in distribution and transportation of emergency health kits and Support good storage and distribution practices of health kits at all districts supported by the project on a day to day basis |
· Assess the capacity of health facilities and monitor the availability (pipeline) of essential medicines and medical supplies in the crisis areas. Foster technical capacity building of field staff through technical updates, training opportunities, exchange visits, literature sharing, Develop/adopt tools, implementation guidelines, supervision check list etc. |
· Ensure networking with zonal and district government offices, other SWAN consortium partners, non-governmental actors and other stakeholders and serve as a focal point for essential Health Supplies Pipeline issues. Liaise with zonal/district health office and health cluster to ensure availability of Emergency health kits at all health facilities supported by the project. |
· Provide regular supportive supervision on quality stock management of health kits using bin-card and stock cards at health facility and district health office level. |
· Prepare monthly and progress project report on all the activities relating to essential medical supplies and support the documentation of the project’s best practices |
· Participate in the rapid Response team to provide humanitarian support to the conflict displaced people based on the gaps identified and discussion with consortium partner and health cluster coordinator |
· Facilitate the translation and implementation of procedures and processes related to the quantification, distribution, rational use, and management of essential drugs at Health facilities. |
· Ensure the proper Emergency health kits preparation, distribution and implementation of the project as planned during the desired timeframe, while ensuring efficient and effective utilization of project resources |
Job Requirements
- BSC degree in Pharmacy/Health sciences such as health officer and nurses and at least one year of relevant experience in medical supplies
- Experience working in emergency sectors with INGOs with specific experience in Drugs and medical supply chain managements and knowledge of the Health systems in Ethiopia.
- Knowledge of GIK management experiences in NGO
- Ability to interact effectively with in all level of government health sector officials & staffs, and to maintain collaborative working relationships within other team.
- Strong English communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
