Background:

The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ), in partnership with the Botswana Chapter of IAWJ and the University of Botswana Law Department, is implementing a grant program “Promoting Inclusive Justice in Botswana.” The project includes judicial training and a range of educational activities for law students.

Period of Performance:

November 2020 – May 2023

Function of the Position:

The Program Assistant is responsible for an array of logistical and administrative duties associated with the grant funded project “Promoting Inclusive Justice in Botswana.” The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have outstanding judgment, possess outstanding communication skills, and be able to problem solve on an ad hoc basis. He or she will work independently and be able to troubleshoot common problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Handle virtual and in-person training logistics;

· Procure project supplies;

· Schedule project meetings and take notes with local project partners and stakeholders;

· Assist in the collection and reporting of project performance data;

· Create and maintain a database of persons trained and trainers under the program;

· Maintain project files;

· Prepare and submit monthly project and financial reports;

· Draft project submissions for IAWJ social media platforms;

· Liaise with the host country stakeholders and international donors;

· Provide as needed assistance to in-country project coordinator; and

· Carry out administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree;

· At least one-year experience working on a U.S. Government funded grant program;

· Strong time management and organizational skills;

· Ability to work with a small team and independently; and

· Strong computer skills

Desired Qualification:

· Past experience working on rule of law and/or human rights projects;

Other Information:

This is a remote, part-time position and the individual is expected to work between 65 to 80 hours a month for a monthly flat fee rate. A laptop will be provided to the individual for their work as well as a small stipend for internet charges. The individual hired for this position will report to the Project Coordinator, who is resident in Botswana, as well as the IAWJ Senior Program Officer, who is located outside of Botswana.
