The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) is seeking a highly motivated Program Officer to successfully and effectively lead the implementation of FSVC’s technical assistance program in Lesotho. This three-year program, entitled “Strengthening Anti-Corruption Efforts and Procedures in Southern Africa“ , is funded by USAID/Southern Africa, and aims in part to help the Government of Lesotho and local civil society organizations strengthen anti-corruption efforts and procedures. The Program Officer will help FSVC implement practical, results-oriented activities in Lesotho that respond to local needs and help improve people’s lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple field aspects of technical assistance delivery by international experts recruited by FSVC, including activity design, logistical arrangements, implementation, post-activity follow-up and reporting to funders;
  • Build relationships and represent FSVC with key counterpart institutions, including local government institutions (e.g., Parliament, Supreme Audit Institution, Ministries) and local civil society organizations who may receive FSVC’s technical assistance; and
  • Liaise closely with FSVC NY headquarters team and regional FSVC field staff to ensure effective program implementation and management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of experience in international development, particularly public financial management, accounting and/or commercial banking;
  • Experience managing the delivery of international technical assistance programs;
  • Graduate degree in international development, finance/economics, business, international relations or other program-related field;
  • Excellent English and Sesotho speaking and writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; and
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
