Project HOPE is looking for a Program Officer to support USAID/Nigeria’s Integrated Child Health and Social Services Award (ICHSSA) program. The purpose of ICHSSA is to reduce the impact of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) on orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). ICHSSA will ensure that OVCs are cared for and protected by their households, communities, local and state governments.

The Program Officer is responsible for providing program operations and management support for specified programs. S/he helps manage project operations, administration, finances, and logistics, and liaises directly with HQ staff. The Program Officer assists with the design and development of project management systems. The Program Officer works directly with agency partner contacts and consultants to develop and monitor project scopes of work, budgets, and timelines. The Program Officer reports to the Sr. Advisor for Systems Strengthening. S/he will also coordinate with Project HOPE Africa Regional Program Officer to strengthen program activities and reporting mechanisms.

S/he will have the following qualifications and experience:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Public Health, Epidemiology, Social work, Monitoring & Evaluation, Demography, Biostatistics, Statistics, Analytics or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Public Health is preferred.

Professional Experience/Requirements:

  • Degree in Medical Field, Social Sciences or related disciplines with at least 4 years cognate experience, which must include at least 2 years in Programming for OVC and sub granting to CBOs
  • Knowledge of health systems strengthening activities
  • knowledge of health programs with the Nigeria public sector, health system, NGOs / CBOs and collaborative relationship and liaison with community leaders
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships and linkages with key stakeholders including health institutions, government officials, NGOs and private sector.
  • He / she will assist in strengthening technical capacity of CBOs, LGAs and State in OVC programming, service provision and governance as well as provide guidance on referrals for the uptake of services and participate actively in referral coordination meetings
  • Provide project management and support for the design, creation and revision of HSS activities such as trainings and supportive supervision visits.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate reporting of all project activities including plans, implementation progress, annual reports, and workshops.
  • Lead the development of communications materials including quarterly reports, success stories, and blogs to highlight key issues, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Will assist in direct management and coordination of all project activities in the state in line with the project implementation plan
  • Fluency in English
