ZOA’s programme in Sudan

ZOA started working in Sudan in 2004 in response to the Darfur crisis. In 2010, programmes in the East of the country were also opened. Currently, ZOA has five offices and a portfolio that varies from humanitarian emergency to developmental projects. The main sectors are Integrated Water Resources Management, Food Security and Livelihoods, Peacebuilding, Inclusiveness for people living with disability, Emergency Relief and Education. Adaptation to climate change, migration, gender and conflict sensitivity issues are mainstreamed. ZOA Sudan has been leading large scale consortia projects and is strongly embedded in the different project areas. You will be part of an enthusiastic and skilled team.

About the role

The development of high-quality proposals is the main focus of this role and will be your challenge and responsibility! As Programme Advisor you don’t shy away from some writing, on the contrary, it gives you a lot of energy, joy and satisfaction. At the same time, you actively engage your colleagues in the field and your team in Khartoum. Besides proposal writing, you will ensure excellent implementation and evaluation of ZOA’s projects and manage a small team.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

Programme Quality / MEAL

  • Advises and supports Country Director (CD), Director of Programmes and Programme Managers (PGMs) on the development of the Country Strategy and Annual Plan;
  • Supervises the Programme Quality team;
  • Responsible for adherence to ZOA policy and compliant with ZOA, donor, national and international guidelines, policies and standards in the implementation of projects;
  • Supervises the development, implementation and maintenance of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) system;
  • Responsible for the development of knowledge management at country level;
  • Supports the CD, Director of Programmes and PGMs in the writing of the internal quarterly reports and annual review.

Grants & Partnerships Management

  • Leads the development of high-quality project proposals and monitors consistency between donor proposals and Country Strategy;
  • Responsible for the quality and consistency of programme and project planning;
  • Contributes to on-time, high-quality submission of donor reports and evaluations;
  • Responsible for partner assessments and the development of capacity building plans.

Your profile

Identity

  • The candidate is expected to fully support the vision, mission and Christian values of ZOA.

Knowledge & Experience

  • University degree in a humanitarian, development or another relevant field. A degree in one of the key sectors of ZOA’s work in Sudan is an advantage;
  • At least three years of field experience in a fragile context. Experience in Sudan is an advantage;
  • Strong proven experience in the development of proposals;
  • Fluency in English and being able to write convincingly, knowledge of Arabic would be a pre;
  • Expertise in at least one of the sectors ZOA Sudan is working in;
  • Research skills.
