ALPS Resilience implements and manages education-based projects amongst the most marginalised communities to strengthen their ability to respond to, withstand and recover from adverse situations.

ALPS Resilience seeks to appoint a Programme Manager, to be based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

Programme Management:

  • Oversee all projects in forced migration and violence prevention, assuming ultimate responsibility for ensuring that projects meet their intended inputs, outputs, outcomes and impact
  • Ensure projects are financially accountable and on-budget
  • Manage ALPS’ Project Managers and all project-based staff
  • Design projects in response to migration related challenges with correct theory of change and sophisticated, participatory monitoring and Evaluation

Development:

  • Locate at least two appropriate funding opportunities for ALPS Resilience each month from international cooperation agencies, national government or private foundations
  • Write at least two high quality proposals to submit on behalf of ALPS Resilience each month
  • Maintain existing relationships and initiating new relationships with various stakeholders and donors
  • Develop and implement creative fundraising activities and sustainability solutions

Media and Communications:

  • Maintain oversight over ALPS Resilience’s communications work plan
  • Manage relationship with ALPS Resilience’s Communications Consultant
  • Contribute at least one policy brief, project report or related communications output per month

 Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years-experience in the nonprofit or development sector
  • At least three years-experience in sustainability and fundraising
  • Minimum of three years-experience in communications and media
  • Experience writing proposals for international cooperation agencies (State Department, USAID, DFID, EuropeAID, UNHCR, etc)
  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of French or another South African language would be an advantage
  • Written and oral skills
  • Must communicate regularly with ALPS Resilience’s Program Director, Financial Officer and project-based staff
  • Postgraduate University Degree (Masters or equivalent), preferably in development or a related field
  • Undergraduate University Degree
  • Willingness to travel in Pretoria once a month
