JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible to ensure that the project can deliver the required level of financial reporting to country office, Lifewater headquarters and pertinent local government stakeholders. The accountant will work closely with project manager to ensure that grant reporting, Country Office Finance reporting and any ad hoc reporting requirements are met within a timely manner and provide the required level of detail and rigorous analysis. Also, will ensure close coordination with other units and Finance Manager to ensure quality of budgetary information at the time of proposal development as well as quarterly and monthly reviews.
Key job responsibilities:
- Process monthly Income Tax, Provident and Pension Contribution, and Insurance
- Prepares payroll and effect payments in the absence of cashier
- Post transactions in selected accounting and reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
- Work with Finance Manager and LI finance unit to ensure that accurate report is in place to understand current position and support forward planning and decision making.
- Produce electronic monthly report for LI in-country office and HQ and ensure that reconciliation actions are agreed upon
- Take part in procurements (service and materials/product)
- Work with proposal developers to ensure that direct activity and administration costs are accurate and expenditures are in line with the agreed project budget
- Work with the project manager to ensure that all donor budgets are mapped out as per specific requirements.
- Ensure that all budgets are utilized according to the approved project document
- Prepares books of accounts for external audit in time
- Provides acknowledgment receipts for wires from LI HQ to project accounts
- Support fixed assets documentation, inventory and reporting
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One-year contract with possibility of extension and probation period of 45 working days.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICAION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA in accounting from recognized university
- Relevant training in excel, accounting software, ACCA/ACMA (QuickBooks preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years in NGO, preferably international NGO
- Experience with ChSA regulations, Tax, provident fund and pension handling

- Ability to use the internet and e-mail
- Excellent practical knowledge of financial accounting and of report development
- Well organized, flexible and proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team setting
