Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Project Assistants for its RESET II (REAL) project funded by EU.

The job holder will be based in Wolaita zone, Soddo town and reports to the Project Manager.

Purpose of the Job: 

Under the supervision of Project Manager, the Project Assistants will be responsible for the overall implementation and monitoring of the project including provision of technical support and capacity building activities for the project woredas, health facilities and health development armies to ensure basic social service (Health, WASH and Nutrition) are  integratdly implemented for better outcomes. He/she will monitor day to day activity of the project and participate on project identification, community planning, follow up implementation and monitoring of the activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing  weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual detail implementation work plan
  • Implementing action project activities together with district health office, health facilities, health extension workers, schools representatives and other relevant project beneficiaries.
  • Carry out community mobilization activity and organize WASH, Nutrition and Health campaign together with woreda health office staff and consortium members.
  • Conduct training on CLTSH, CMAM, IYCF, CBNC, LARCs & others for different health professionals & community representatives.
  • Collect and assess the necessary information related to Health, WASH and Nutrition from health facilities, schools, kebeles, community etc.
  • Work closely and integrate with  woreda health office, health extension workers and health development armies.
  • Identify project beneficiaries and keep the necessary documentation, check list and registration.
  • Conduct and organize community training and awareness creation sessions.
  • Plan, implement and maintain record on field activities
  • Monitor and report on relevant activities and impact on weekly, monthly and quarterly bases.
  • Facilitate payment according to Amref health Africa’s financial policy and procedure for project activities.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in any health ,WASH related fields and/or social science fields (sociology, social work)
  • Additional training in SRH, Nutrition and WASH is advantageous.
  • A proven track record of at least 3 years work experience in nutrition programmes, WASH and SRH components.
  • Experience in organizing and supporting large scale campaigns and community mobilizations.
  • Experience in capacity building of health worker, HEWs at various levels in different health components especially experience in conducting training in CMAM, IYCF, LARCs and others.
  • Proven ability to work in a team in close collaboration with consortium member and other counterparts, strong planning and analytical skills, data management skills, high degree of self-motivation and a task and output oriented work ethics.
  • Ability to produce analytical and well-presented project field reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Fluent in Wolaitigna language is advantages.
  • NGO experience is an advantage
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Windows, MS Word and Excel,
  • Be a team player and communicator and work under minimal supervision.
