JOB SUMMARY:

The cashier/junior accountant position is necessary to ensure that the project handles petty cash and effective payment to laborers, vendors and staffs. The cashier/junior accountant will work closely with project accountant to ensure that payments and appropriate documentation and petty cash reporting are adequately managed.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Process petty cash and check payments and pay cash at field levels and to staffs and vendors when authorized
  • Sort out and code all payment vouchers according to LI and program chart of accounts
  • Collect appropriate supporting payment documents from local government and suppliers
  • Assist in the collection of Performa invoices
  • Support project accountant in the preparation of program reports and budget plans
  • Keep track of staff leave balances, insurance, pension and provident fund settlement and documentation
  • Keep record of project assets at field office

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  One-year contract with possibility of extension and probation period of 45 working days.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA in accounting from recognized university
  • Ability to use accounting software –mainly Quick Books
  • Ability to use the internet and e-mail
  • At least two years of similar work experience

PERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Commitment to the core values of Lifewater International
  • Strong team working skills
  • Ability to contribute towards resource stewardship
  • Excellent command of the English language; ability to speak the local language is an advantage
