TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR INTERNSHIP

Duration of the internship: 3 months (with possibility of extension)

Background information/Organizational Context
The UNHCR Cote d’Ivoire is offering an opportunity for eligible candidates to acquire hands-on experience on UNHCR project control procedures and processes. The intern is ideally a recent accounting/finance graduate eager to gain experience in a UN environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Taking technical inputs and guidance from and working in close collaboration with the senior project control assistant, the Project Control Intern will be tasked with carrying out the following activities:
- Assist in reviewing the internal control systems of implementing partner and support partner capacity building activities
- Assist in verifying that partnership agreements are established for each project in accordance with UNHCR rules and ensuring quality control for each agreement,
- Attend financial audits of projects with partners,
- Assist in the monitoring of impact and performance plans with the various focal points (UNHCR) of the activities implemented by the partners,
- Assist in the archiving of the documents (accounting supports, financial report …),
- Assist in the monitoring the recommendations of the audits and verifications carried out,
- And, complete all other duties as required.
Minimum qualifications required
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other related degree;
· Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Office applications;
· To be able to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure;
· Fluent in French; should be able to read and write in English.
Eligibility
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Recent graduate (having completed their studies within one year of applying) or current student in a graduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and
An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.
Allowance
Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
